Keep an eye out for new community pride signs popping up in the purple planters around town! 🌸💜

These signs are all about celebrating what makes Oakley special — our local businesses, restaurants, schools, history, community pride, and the people who make this town feel like home.

Oakley Tourism was proud to partner with the Future Philanthropy students to help make this project possible. Thank you to these students for helping spread positivity and hometown pride throughout our community!

Be sure to snap a photo with your favorite sign when you see them around town and drop a picture in the comments! 📸

A limited Sunflower Summer will return this year with similar rules to last summer.

The Sunflower Summer program allows free access to many of the largest Kansas attractions, museums and zoos for Kansas residents with students enrolled in Pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. This is the 6th year and it will run only Thursday, July 9 – Sunday, August 2.

This year there will only be one adult ticket for each party and additional adults will need to pay. Funds may run out prior to August 2. Updates about the program’s season will be delivered on the app. Always double check before you visit any attractions!

Participating venues for the program will be announced before the end of June.

It's an exciting time for our country, state, and our communities!!

As we look ahead to celebrating America’s 250th birthday, we’re reminded of the stories that helped shape our nation right here on the plains. The spirit of the Wild West, built on grit, resilience, and wide-open opportunity, still lives on today. 🤠🇺🇸

Here at the Buffalo Bill Cultural Center, that history isn’t just something we remember, it’s something we carry forward.

Out on the wide-open plains of western Kansas, the Oakley area offers an unexpected blend of history, science, and striking natural beauty that rewards travelers willing to take the scenic route.

Step into the past at the Fick Fossil Museum and Keystone Gallery, where ancient marine fossils reveal a time when this land lay beneath a vast inland sea.

Nearby, the Buffalo Bill Cultural Center brings the spirit of the Old West to life. Enjoy a walk up to the twice-life size monumental bronze of Buffalo Bill Cody on his horse Brigham in pursuit of a buffalo.

Just beyond town, the landscape transforms dramatically—Monument Rocks rises from the prairie like a hidden desert cathedral, while Little Jerusalem, protected by The Nature Conservancy, showcases rugged chalk formations and quiet trails that feel worlds away from the highway.

It’s a place where curiosity meets solitude, inviting road-trippers to slow down, explore, and discover a side of Kansas they never expected.

But this oil isn’t like anything the world has ever seen.
It glows.
It heals.
It remembers.

As governments race to control it and shadowy forces close in, Sarah must decide whether to protect her discovery… or unleash it to save humanity.
