Today is Day!! This day is all about Guest Education.

Some of my page followers have actually rented my bayfront villa direct.

You may not know this about me. When I’m not managing my 3 vacation rentals, I Admin a private Facebook group for over 7,700 vacation rental owners & managers. Our private group called “Say No to VRBO Service Fee” also has a public page which has content for both owners/hosts and guests.

This is just down the road.

If you've visited the Preserve, you've probably noticed that visitors can rent kayaks and stand-up paddleboards to explore the Bay with, thanks to our partners at Ecobay Kayak & Stand Up Paddle. Ecobay just wrapped up their 18th year at the James Farm!

To celebrate, Ecobay owner, Lisa Daisey-Difebo, presented a check to the Center's Manager of Programs and Facilities, Bob Collins, representing 10% of Ecobay's Preserve receipts. When warmer weather returns, be sure to stop by the Preserve and see what Lisa, head guide Bruce Kingston, and the rest of the Ecobay gang are up to.

Unbelievably, someone stole the penguin from the diner!?! So glad it has been recovered.

🐧 UPDATE 🐧

With the assistance of our social media followers and the surveillance cameras captured by our businesses in Town, Bethany Beach PD was able to successfully recover the beloved penguin statue. It is in need of some repairs, but it has been returned to it's rightful owner.

We would like to thank our awesome community and businesses in town for assisting us in this investigation with extra camera footage!

Another Reason to Book Direct (there are many others 😊)

I’ve been in the vacation rental business for 15 years. My guests love to ask questions about the resort areas where my properties are located. They get the scoop on special events, activities, my favorite restaurants and COFFEE, ice cream, pizza, beaches, etc. Much of that information is provided in guest books or with check-in info.

During COVID, this was especially important to understand what local restrictions were in place. Many guests found me on my Google Business listings or on the pages for my rental properties. We messaged, we texted, and we talked. All in all, a very successful summer despite COVID for my business and for my guests. 😊

Another reason to

* Save Hundreds of Dollars *

Why pay a middle man? If you find a 5 star owner to rent from, why do you need to pay someone else another 15% when the owner or manager will do all the work to make your stay a good one? Sites like VRBO, AirBnB, and TripAdvisor all charge guests a Service Fee. TripAdvisor hides that fee in the nightly rate. Don’t be fooled!

Also, sites like Booking.com and Hotels.com charge the hotels or property owners 15% which is built into the nightly rates, so you’re still paying. ALWAYS whether you are booking a vacation rental or a hotel. You will get better and more personal service while saving lots of money in the process.

Today is the 4th annual Day!! Why should we book direct when booking a vacation rental?

* Talk Directly to Owners *

What does this do? It helps the two parties of the business transaction to understand each other a little better. Sure, you can always message questions via websites or booking sites. In a conversation, you will understand each other’s personalities more.

Especially during COVID last year, I found more guests wanted to speak to me. 90% of my bookings were direct as travelers searched the web to find me 😊 Many owners are easily found. Try it!
