โ๏ธ๐ Happy Mola Mola Monday! ๐โ๏ธ
One of the oceanโs most fascinating giants, the Mola mola (Ocean Sunfish), has been making appearances off our coast!
๐ Did you know:
๐น The Mola mola is the heaviest bony fish in the world, weighing up to 5,000 pounds!
๐น They can grow over 10 feet tall from fin tip to fin tip.
๐น Despite their massive size, they primarily feed on jellyfish and other gelatinous zooplankton.
๐น Their name โsunfishโ comes from their habit of basking near the surface, appearing to soak up the sun.
๐น Mola molas are found in oceans around the world, including right here off Southern California!
