Today is World Whale Day ! World Whale Day was founded in Maui, Hawaii, but is now celebrated all over the world.
This special occasion is celebrated on the third Sunday in February every year. As such, we thought we would celebrate today with some of our favorite Gray whale tail fluke , Rainblows and more -

Beautiful FOGBOW today 🌈 ☁️ finding the beauty in the weather.

A fog bow, sometimes called a white rainbow, is a similar phenomenon to a rainbow; however, as its name suggests, it appears as a bow in fog rather than rain. Because of the very small size of water droplets that cause fog—smaller than 0.05 millimeters—the fog bow has only very weak colors, with a red outer edge and bluish inner edge. The colors fade due to being smeared out by the diffraction effect of the smaller droplets.💧

Did you know Finback Whales are the second largest whale next to the Blue Whale?! They are also the fastest, known as the “Greyhounds of the Sea” and we were lucky enough to see them here in Oceanside over the weekend! 🐳✨

A solo adult gray whale passing through Oceanside while spouting a “rainblow,” approximately 3 miles offshore from Oceanside Harbor. 🐋✨🐋

This whale is on its southbound migration to the lagoons of Baja California, Mexico. The whale’s journey most likely began in the Bering and Chukchi seas, located between Alaska and Russia.

Gray whales travel 10,000-12,000 miles round trip every year, the longest known migration of any mammal. They average about 75 miles a day at a speed of approximately 5 miles per hour.

🌊🎅 Today was a fantastic day for Oceanside Adventures with our Santa Boat Rides! We’re thrilled to share that we had over 500 people join us for this festive event. A big thank you to everyone who participated! All proceeds from the rides will go to support Oceanside Rotary they bring all the volunteers and even have a deal with Santa , thank you to our Captain Shane and his crew for helping us continue this annual tradition and our mission of service and community support. We appreciate the partnership and look forward to more events like this in the future! 🎄🚤
