We may be a little biased, but Oconto waters always put on a show. Krysten Potega spent the weekend working the riprap at Breakwater Park and the Oconto River, and the smallmouth bite delivered from start to finish.

Shore fishing or boat fishing, it doesn’t matter in Oconto. 🎣 From Breakwater Park’s riprap to the river, the smallmouth bite was on fire all weekend long.

Winning baits: CrushCity Mayor swimbaits, tubes, and Choppo topwaters.

☕ Fuel up at The Shop on Main before launching.

🍽️ Refuel afterward at:
• The Dockside for steaks or their famous You Catch, We Cook option
• Brothers Three for pizza
• Los Magueyes for fajitas

Safe to say Oconto made it pretty easy to keep both our rods bent and our bellies full. 😉

There's something about Walleyes and the Bay! Thank you Krysten Potega 🎣

Walleye? It’s what’s for dinner. 🐟🎣
Mother Nature threw everything she had at us this weekend, but Oconto still delivered.

High winds forced us off the bay at times, but that’s the beauty of Oconto…when conditions get rough, there’s no shortage of shore fishing opportunities. Breakwater Park kept the rods bent with smallmouth, and our stay at the Econo Lodge put us just steps away from a riprap shoreline loaded with fish.

When we could finally sneak onto the main lake Saturday and Sunday morning, we were rewarded with mixed bags of perch, walleye, and sheephead.

Proof that the best fishing trips aren’t always about perfect weather, they’re about adapting, exploring, and making the most of what Mother Nature gives you. 🌊🎣

Oconto County's best-kept secret? One of the darkest, most spectacular night skies in the Midwest is sitting right in Wisconsin's backyard, about an hour from the Green Bay area.

We partnered with DarkSky Wisconsin to bring it to light, and with northern lights possible the next two nights, there's no better time to look up.
