Government Shutdown & Air Travel Update ✈️

Flights are still taking off, but the system is under strain. With FAA funding stalled, more than 11,000 employees are on furlough while thousands of air traffic controllers and TSA officers remain on the job without pay.

👉 What this means for you:
• Security lines could be longer.
• Expect more gate or in-air holding at busy airports.
• Connections will feel tighter, especially at hub airports.

Airlines are already cautioning travelers that the pace of operations may need to “slow down.” The controllers’ union is warning of added stress on an already stretched workforce.

Traveler Tips:
• Arrive earlier than usual.
• Keep your airline’s app open for real-time changes.
• Build extra buffer time into your connections.

Safety remains protected, but parts of the FAA’s behind-the-scenes work are paused until funding resumes.

Bottom line: flights are still moving — just be ready for a slower, more stressful system until this is resolved.
