Mayberry in the mountains. That's the feeling throughout our area, and it's nurtured by our most valuable resource: our residents who choose to live, play, raise families and build communities here. Another shining example is the Kenny family. Kylie and Gary own Dough-A-Deer Cafe on Main Street in Old Forge. Enjoy a peek into their Adirondack family life in this video interview by Emmy Award winning filmmaker Andre Constantini and award winning local photographer Kurt Gardner of Kurt Gardner Photography Gallery.

History and tradition ooze like woodsey lava from our Adirondack communities, and Covewood Lodge in Big Moose is an iconic example of that legacy. Opened in 1928, Covewood still has the feel of a resort which is of the land, rather than on it. The Bowes family has operated Covewood since 1951, dedicating themselves to enriching the lives of their guests as well as their community. This is another video presented by Emmy award winning filmmaker Andre Constantini and award winning photographer Kurt Gardner of Old Forge.

Dedication of the Community Totem Pole by Webb Supervisor Bonnie Baker: THIS TOTEM POLE STANDS AS A BRIDGE BETWEEN GENERATIONS, BETWEEN CULTURES, BETWEEN THE PAST AND THE FUTURE. MAY IT REMIND ALL WHO SEE IT TO WALK WITH RESPECT, TO SPEAK WITH HONESTY, AND TO LIVE IN HARMONY WITH ONE ANOTHER AND THE LAND. MAY THE STORIES IT HOLDS NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. THANK YOU ANDRÈ DENNIS NEWTON.
The Town pole was created by Old Forge native Andrè Dennis Newton, and was installed today at Point Park by Town of Webb crews. Andrè is the daughter of the late Abenaki Chief Maurice Dennis, formerly of Old Forge. Chief Dennis, a highly decorated WWII veteran of the 10th Mountain Division, created an authentic Indian village at Enchanted Forest, long a favorite attraction of the park. Andrè said she could feel Chief's presence as she created the Community Totem Pole, as well as her sister Liette, who helped their father build many totem poles.
