Our July - September calendar is open! 🎉

Summer days are long and lovely out at the cabin. Fireflies and flowers blooming and the sound of the cicadas at night. I love how in these photos you can see how lush and green it is too.

If you’re like me and already dreaming of fall, we start getting some early pops of color around late September.

One of the best things we did before construction was hire an artist to create these renderings.

For one thing, it was really incredible to see this idea we had spent months painstakingly designing every detail actually come to life! I still remember where we were when I got the first draft version (getting ready to section hike the Appalachian Trail, actually!).

But it helped with so much along the way. It helped with the appraisal, it helped with the vision during construction, it helped us realize some things we liked (the upstairs as a bedroom) and things we didn’t like (the tongue and groove for the kitchen wall and breakfast bar by the stairs).

There’s a lot that turned out different! The kitchen is probably the biggest change. But I think the overall feeling of it is pretty close to where we started. It also helps me think about next projects - like finally installing a fireplace, custom stairs, and a decorative ceiling in the kitchen.

It’s fun to look back on these now. What do you think of the differences?

Only a few more weeks until the days look like this again. ☀️🌿

Summertime in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a dream! Everything is so lush and pretty. Cool breezes, hikes full of flowers, outdoor dining and drinks. And we’re conveniently located to it all!

Here’s what’s near our little cabin retreat:

🥾 fifteen minutes to the trailhead for one of the most popular waterfall hikes in Western North Carolina - Catawba Falls!
🏔️ten minutes to the cute mountain town of Old Fort, where you’ll find breweries, restaurants, coffee shops, a winery, and shopping!
🌲 twenty minutes to Black Mountain or Marion for even more to do
🍻 thirty minutes to one of the most popular mountain towns in North Carolina, Asheville (aka Beer City USA)! Asheville was recently named by Forbes as one of the top destinations in the world!

You have the convenience of all that nearby but can also enjoy the peace and quiet of being at a cabin on seven acres, surrounded by trees 🌲

We’re pet friendly (with no fees!), perfect for groups of four or a couples retreat or a solo adventure, have lots of outdoor amenities like a hot tub, outdoor dining and living areas, a hammock, and a cozy fire pit. And maybe my favorite fact is that we don’t have a tv! What we do have is books, board games, conversational card games, vinyls and a record player, a custom coloring book.. so much that will make it easy to unplug.

Our full summer calendar opens up on April 1st or you can snag one of our last available weekends! We have two left in June - everything else is fully booked for the next three months.
