Are the value resorts right for your family?

Here’s what you’ll find (and won’t find) at Walt Disney World’s value resorts:

-Motel style accommodations (exterior facing doors except family suites at Art of Animation)
-Over the top theming in a variety of styles, most featuring beloved characters
-Food court dining options only (no sit down restaurants)
-Activity pools featuring outdoor games and activities led my cast members
-Pool bar at the activity pool
-Hot tubs and additional quiet pools throughout
-Primarily bus transportation (Pop Century and Art of Animation have Skyliner access)
-Walking/running trails through each resort
-No fitness center access
-Luggage storage for check in/check out days
-Helpful and friendly staff throughout the resort!

Here’s my hot take, are you ready for it?

You don’t need more than 1 day at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Not even die hard Super Nintendo or Harry Potter fans. Real estate in California is much tighter than Florida and the size of the park reflects that!

With the right strategy and planning (hi, that comes from me) Universal is a truly perfect one day experience for those with a day to spend in the Hollywood area (I’m looking at you LA port cruise departures!).

What do you think? Would you consider this add on to your Southern California trip? I’d do it again in a heartbeat!

Save this family vacation tip for your summer plans!

Pick a photo to recreate or a landmark to take a photo by each time you return to a vacation spot and watch the kids grow 👶🏼🧒🏼👦🏼🧑🏼

When my son broke my heart and said he wanted to wear a Nintendo outfit instead of his Harry Potter robes on our visit to Universal Hollywood - I was lost! I knew I didn’t want to go for a graphic tee because I already had those outfits planned for later in the trip (and didn’t want to buy a shirt I wouldn’t wear beyond the trip - but I’ll save that soap box for another day!) so I turned to my good friend Google for casual Princess Peach inspired looks and landed on this version of her look in New Donk City.

Coming up with this one took me out of my comfort zone a little bit! I was not raised on Mario like so many of my fellow elder millennials - we played zero video games growing up so I don’t know the plots, the characters or much of anything beyond the basics overheard on the playground!

This package is everything you need for a perfect one on one trip with your middle big kiddo. Park admission, one of the most beautiful and relaxing resorts, food and drink, memory maker, travel protection and admission to one of the best special events of the year!

I can’t resist an opportunity for theme outfits or group costumes - and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is no exception!

🗓️The fall festivities start even earlier this year (August 9) and tickets will be available in just 48 short hours!

👻New dance parties, an earlier parade, and more villains plus your favorite stage shows, the best seasonal treats and trick or treating sponsored by M&M & Mars…what more could you possibly ask for??

🎃This is hands down one of the best events that Walt Disney World puts on (even better than the Christmas party) and if you’ll be at Walt Disney World between August and October (thank you Daddy Iger for listening and NOT having a November 1 party so we can have our magical Halloween to Christmas transition back 🙌🏼) you want to build these tickets into your vacation spending plan!
