Woof! Peeka here with a Public Service Announcement from my latest grand adventure.
Last week, I hit the road with a pack full of my favorite humans and made my way to the expo. There were new sights, new smells, new noises, and approximately 10,000 people who clearly needed to know how adorable I am.
Going to the expo was fun, but letās talk about something important: advocating for your pups.
Iām a pretty chill old gal. Some might even call me a professional Walmart greeter at heart. I love people, I love attention, and I am generally very committed to being admired by the public. But even for a seasoned social butterfly like me, new places with lots of people, sounds, movement, and excitement can be a lot to process.
Thatās where my family came in.
They gave me the gift of travel in my fancy cart, complete with my very dramatic mosquito screen. Was there an epic swarm of bugs attacking us? No. Was I preparing for battle just in case? Also no. But that screen worked beautifully as a gentle barrier to keep well-intentioned strangers from reaching in and touching me without asking.
My humans know I love making friends, but they also know they have a big responsibility to protect me and set me up for success. Because of that, I got to meet so many wonderful people in a safe, calm, and controlled way. People asked about me, talked to my humans, and got to interact with me respectfully.
So, here is my doggo wisdom for the day:
Please be the human who asks before petting a dog. Donāt reach in. Donāt assume every dog is comfortable with every person, every place, or every situation. Even friendly dogs deserve healthy boundaries.
And to my fellow dog families: itās okay to advocate for your dog. Actually, itās more than okay. Itās part of loving them well.
Boundaries help create better experiences, safer interactions, and happier pups.
Now, if youāll excuse me, Iāll be accepting compliments, snacks, and admiration from the couch today. Peace, love and paws! š¾
