We are excited to have another AirBNB ready for this summer on Spirit Lake! It doesn’t look like summer yet in front of the cabin, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to think of summer trips! We’ve been busy working inside and outside, so interior pictures and the listing aren’t ready. But please reach out if you want more details or to potentially reserve a spot for this summer!

Sometimes we find the house completely rearranged. Why do I picture two Home Alone aged boys kicking back and watching last night’s Super Bowl playoff games? Checkers and pinball at half time, root beer and popcorn for snacks. Whatever the scenario, we love it when our guests make themselves at home. 100%.

This bathroom though... 🤩 We would look at this room, sigh, and just shut the door because it seemed like way too much. What could be done on a small budget with a squatty dropped ceiling, a warped, slightly pink vanity, dingy floors, and what WAS that smell?🤢 Removing the ceiling revealed the radiant heating pipes, so....if you can’t beat them, paint them! GOLD too yet! Add some shiplap, a warm wood handmade vanity and maybe just a touch more paint and transformation complete. P.S. It smells divine!

They say many hands make light work... but, maybe not these hands yet?!? We had 4 little tikes helping with some outdoor cleanup work tonight.

Spring has sprung at the Baksteen Huis! Spring also involves a little spring cleaning and thankfully many hands make light work. The exterior is a work in progress, but oh so much potential!!

The main floor powder bath is small. Honestly, there is barely room to change your mind. But what it lacks in space it makes up in charm! There is definitely a budget to consider when redoing these spaces and this was a quick repaint (inspired by Jenni and her gorgeous eggplant bathroom)with thrifted frames and lots of downloadable art. And for some reason the toilet is kinda cool. 🚽🧻

You guessed it... we kept the light! It just seems like she belongs here - the lady of the house, if you will. In fact, we let her guide the design as we added jewel toned accessories and a rug. This room is definitely “gathered”. We rearranged, borrowed, begged and cleaned. There are a few pieces of new scattered around but nothing so precious that you can’t do kicked back and relaxed or game night with family and friends. There’s plenty of space to hold everyone!

Say hello to the new dining room addition! She’s so pretty! And for practical purposes, a great place to serve food or drinks. This room just keeps getting better!

Come sit and have a cup. This sunroom is all things warm and cozy...don’t you think? And they just don’t make them like they use to, right? The popcorn ceiling scraping, electrical rewiring and wallpaper removal were all worth it in the end.
