Ten years ago today, we launched , a shared publishing project inspired by the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service and our love of writing and photography. In addition to so many adventures in our wondrous and diverse national parks and public lands, we developed an annual summer essay contest and a spring poetry series, and curated Wayfinding, a poetry anthology published by . This spring, we are celebrating this milestone with a new poetry series, and we will be reading submissions through May 31. We hope you’ll submit, read along, and join us in celebrating! We were moved by immensity and endurance during our visits with the coastal redwoods. Next stop, Oregon Caves! The final image is from Fern Canyon, a trail accessed from Gold Bluff Beach and within Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park; the park is one of many state park units in collaboration with the to co-manage these austere coastal forests!

We were again blown away by autumn splendor and Hudson River views in the lower Catskills. This spot, Newman’s Ledge (within North-South Lake Campground) is exactly where we became engaged 11 years ago! We returned this weekend to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary.

The program connects the fishing tradition across generations while teaching children skills they can apply in the future, either at a clinic or while earning their badge.

Junior anglers can learn how parks conserve their fish habitats and about fishing regulations (most units are catch and release), and help build relationships within the outdoors with local communities.
