FYI

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has recently issued a cybersecurity alert advising travelers not to plug their phones or devices directly into public USB ports at airports. These ports can potentially be compromised by hackers, a tactic known as “juice jacking”where malware is installed or data is pilfered whenever your device connects to the port  .

Instead, the TSA recommends using:
Your own power brick (wall adapter) paired with your cable, or
A TSA-compliant portable charger or battery pack

Thinking about tackling Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando this year? The fog starts rolling in August 29 and sticks around through November 2 and here’s the lowdown so you can survive the night!

🧟‍♂️ What’s waiting for you:
• 10 haunted houses
• 5 scare zones
• 2 live shows
• Tribute Store & HHN-only merch all over the park
• Spooky-themed food & drinks near each house
• Death Eaters lurking in Diagon Alley after dark

⚡ How to make the most of it:
• Express Pass – Skip the regular line once per house (huge time saver!)
• Scream Early Ticket – Enter between 3–5PM and get in early house queues
• Staying at a Universal hotel? Use the private guest entrance from 6:30–7:30PM
• Some rides are open, but honestly… the houses are the main event!

Best game plans by ticket type:
• RIP Tour – Guided VIP tour with priority entry & extra perks
• Express + Early Entry Hit 2–3 houses early, save Express for after 7PM
• Express only Arrive by 5:45PM, start with the biggest houses, loop the park in one direction
• Early Entry only Get in a Stay & Scream zone before 5PM and start at the back of the park
Be realistic you may not see them all, so do your favorites first!

💀 Insider tips from the pros:
• Eat before 7PM or after midnight to avoid crazy food lines
• Need a breather? Catch one of the nighttime shows
• Visit the Tribute Store during the day to save time
• Rain? No problem — scares go on! Bring a poncho
• Wait times drop after 1AM for the top houses
• Terrifier, Fallout & Five Nights at Freddy’s will have the longest lines, hit them first or last

The Beak & Barrel, a brand-new Pirates of the Caribbean themed lounge, is officially opening in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom on August 29, 2025!

Travel Tip Tuesday!!

Southwest is making some changes that have many travelers (including me!) a little frustrated 😬. But don’t worry. With a little planning, you can still save big and make the most of your flights! Here are 3 important tips to know:

1️⃣ Free Checked Bag If you hold one of the Southwest credit cards that earn Rapid Rewards points, you’ll still get a free checked bag for you AND everyone on your reservation. Plus, those cards often come with other perks like a Companion Pass and free Wi-Fi credits. Big savings if you travel often!

You can choose any Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card. Earn 100,000 points with any Southwest Rapid Rewards Personal Credit Card. Business owners can earn 60,000 points with the Premier Business Credit Card or earn 80,000 points with the Performance Business Credit Card.

2️⃣ How to Rebook When Prices Drop
You can still get points back if the fare drops. Instead of just clicking “Change” in the app, you’ll now need to cancel and rebook at the lower price. I made a post about this last week.

Pro tip: Save your confirmation email OR set a Google Flights alert so you’ll know when prices drop!

Southwest Travelers – Important Update! ✈️ A new policy at Southwest may affect your savings on flights. I've explained how to adjust your flights if prices drop for future credit. Listen carefully to this update. Previously, you could modify if your flight price dropped and receive points or a refund. However, with their new Basic Fare, you must cancel entirely instead of changing and rebooking. Here's a valuable travel tip: Booking one-way tickets instead of round trips gives you more flexibility if prices change, allowing you to capitalize on lower fares without losing money on the other leg.
