Virgin Voyages DAY 3: BODRUM, TURKEY 🇹🇷

Today was a BIG day!

We left the ship and headed to our private driver for a d2 hour drive in a very comfy van to visit Ephesus, one of the most fascinating places I've ever seen. Our guide, Deniz, was incredibly knowledgeable and made history come alive as we walked through the ancient city.

It was amazing to stand where Paul preached thousands of years ago and to learn about the area's connection to John the Apostle.

After our tour, we stopped for what our guide called "a small snack." 😂

Let's just say Hunny Bunny and I had a very different definition of small!😜

We enjoyed a delicious spread of authentic local appetizers, chicken skewers, meatballs, rice, and of course Michael had an Efes beer, named after Ephesus.

Then came one of my favorite surprises of the day... a visit to a traditional carpet-making workshop.

Watching these beautiful rugs being handwoven was incredible. The craftsmanship is unbelievable. And yes... when they started flipping the rugs through the air during the demonstration, I may or may not have joined in with a little dancing. 💃🤣

After our 2-hour drive back to the ship, we were officially exhausted.

No fancy dinner for us tonight.

We grabbed pizza instead. I had a gluten-free pepperoni pizza, Hunny Bunny had a regular pepperoni pizza, and we both added salads.

Of course we couldn't end the night without Virgin's ahhhmazing ice cream. 🍦

I had a red velvet cone with an almond brown butter flavor that was absolutely delicious, and Michael went all in with chocolate hazelnut and almond brown butter.

We finished the evening listening to music in On The Rocks before calling it a night and relaxing in our hammock.

Tomorrow... Santorini! 🇬🇷

Day 2: Mykonos 🇬🇷 Note for anyone planning this port: smaller ships can dock right at the city center, but Virgin doesn't count as small. It's medium-sized (not a megaship, but not tiny either), and even at that size we couldn't dock close.
Meant a 30-min uphill walk into town, no sidewalk, no easy. (There's a shuttle bus if you're smarter than us.) Payoff once we got there: white buildings, blue doors, windmills, Little Venice, exactly like the photos. Recovered with 2 hours on the iconic VV balcony hammock, then Chinese at Lucky Lotus for dinner. No show tonight, early night instead. Day 2 of 10 ✅

VIRGIN VOYAGES Greek Isles Cruise - Day 1 (warning ⚠️ tons of deets)

Today is embarkation day.
We slept in big time after our 2 day flight. Talk about exhaustion 😴
Luckily, with Virgin, you don't check in until starting at 2p

The line looked long for check-in but we got through it very quickly.

🧳 I always had straight to the room first to put my carry-on bag away.
🥗 Then it's off to eat! Typically on most cruises, I head to the Muster Station first to do my safety check-in, but Virgin is a little bit different and they do not start that until 4:00 p.m.
So off to the Galley we went.

The Galley is their version of a buffet. Virgin is not a fan of buffets, so this is more of a fancy food court. You can either walk to the eateries and grab your items or you can sit at a table and they will wait on you... LOVE THAT!

Hunny Bunny always heads to the hot tub while I tour the ship.
TIP - the spa can have some good specials on embarkation day, so I always like to go check it out the first day, plus, I love to check out the thermal suite.

Then safety check in, always must do! Or the ship will not depart - it's the LAW!

Dinnertime 🍽️
If you are not familiar with Virgin, all of their restaurants are specialty restaurants but they are all included! There is no main dining room like you may be used to on a regular cruise line.

Tonight - Pink Agave, Mexican, which I love! And then it was off to see a show by the idiot magicians, Griffin and Jones.
They were quite funny and really good. Unfortunately the language was a vulgar but still a great show!

Now it's time for beddy bye🛌🏼 yeah, we're not staying up-laters, this gal needs beauty rest😜

No kids screaming at the pool.
No buffet chaos.
No "meet me at the Lido deck" energy.

That little word "FROM" is HUGE when it comes to travel sites.
It means that price? It's for an inside cabin. No window. Possibly next to the laundry room. On deck 2, next to the crew. Plus, that's the BASE price, doesn't include anything.

By the time you add the cabin category you actually want, the balcony, the right deck, the location that doesn't make you seasick, that price looks very different.
This is exactly why having someone in your corner matters.
I already know which cabins are worth it and which ones you'll regret the second you walk in.
You shouldn't have to figure that out alone.
