Sunday, we took the drive north to Newburgh and a historic field built in 1920. Delano Hitch Field is a little down on its luck, but you can hear the baseball ghosts and imagine the history. We played a tight game, and Jorge pitched great, but we had a couple of guys thrown out at home and left with a tough 5-4 loss.

Every fan of baseball trivia or the crossword puzzle has heard about the Alou brothers, who all played outfield for the SF Giants on September 15 of 1963.
Well the other night, after an 8th grade party decimated our roster, we had to scramble with our wardrobe department. The fans joked about the Lenaghan triplets. I prefer "My Three Sons." Whatever the case, Ossining kids showed up to help the River Monsters. Tristan and Jorge are working hard on their pitching and doing great and Dylan hit a few bombs and forgot to run out of the box after one of them.
So here they are, Jake, Mike, and Chris: the Lenaghan triplets, my three sons, as well as here are Dylan, Tristan, and Jorge. Just a bunch of guys having fun and working on their baseball.

The debut of our new jerseys on Thursday night was a good one. The game ball went to Paxton who started and pitched three scoreless innings and at the plate went 2-3 with a double, 2 RBI, 3 runs, and a steal of home.

Most importantly, the smiles reminded us about the joy of the game and how summer evenings are supposed to be spent. Jayden kept cracking the pitchers up, whether calling pitches with strange gestures or getting Vinny to deal with his umpteenth wardrobe malfunction.

Vinny closed it out and the final was River Monsters 9 - Larchmont Mamaroneck Wildcats 5.

Today, on a beautiful summer evening, River Monsters baseball practice was cancelled.

Across town from our field, a bunch of our players were graduating from 8th grade (not Heriberto and Miles and Joey, they are from a different part of the alphabet - thanks COVID). But anyway, these guys (and Heriberto and Miles and Joey) all graduated Middle School with honors. Presidential Honors for all of these boys, means that they had an average of 94 or higher for ALL of Middle School. These boys and Mark got that too but apparently Mark lost his ribbon.
Mike gave the student speech. Well done guys, what can we say?
Sometimes it is about more than baseball. Not too often...
