Dear Friends and Cherished Guests,

After much reflection, we have made the difficult decision to close Turnstone Cabins. Since 1994, when Ben and I first built our personal mountain retreat along Betty Creek, we've had the joy of sharing this serene haven with many of you. Ben's vision and dedication led to the creation of our four hemlock log cabins, transforming our passion into a beloved getaway for countless visitors.

Following Ben's passing in 2020 after his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, I continued our shared dream with the unwavering support of family and friends. However, the time has come for us to embark on a new chapter. We are profoundly grateful for the memories we've created together and for the trust you've placed in us over the years.

Thank you for being an integral part of our journey. We will forever cherish the moments spent with each of you at Turnstone Cabins.

There's no April Fools joke here...April truly is one of the most beautiful times to visit the mountains! The air is still crisp, but warm enough for amazing hikes. Flowers are blooming and wildlife is on the move. We're running a special for the month of April, and lowered nightly rates to make it a bit easier for you to visit with your significant other, family, or find some time away by yourself. Another great activity in the area and perfect time to visit the gorge. If you haven’t ventured to the Wander North Georgia Clayton store or their newest location at the gorge, you’re missing out. Truly a great local business full of unique gifts and all your mountain needs.

We're about two weeks out from the Tallulah Gorge Whitewater release on March 25th and 26th! This will be the first release of the year, and a great weekend to visit the gorge. If you haven't visited during a release before, this is a great chance to come out and watch kayakers from across the southeast challenge these class IV-V rapids!

Betty Creek is flowing strong behind Chinkapen Gap! We’ve been busy today working on getting the cabins ready to open for the season. Seems like it rains every time we have a lot of outside work to do! 😂😂

That's a wrap for 2022! We are rolling up the sidewalks and tucking in for the winter season...and waiting on that first snowfall. A big thank you to everyone who stayed with us this year! We will be closed throughout the winter, but you can still book for next year through our website! See you in 2023!

Do you know the stories behind the names of each of the cabins? On the spot where Cherry Bluff sits now, there was a giant cherry tree that Dad placed the cabin right under. For many years, the tree was beautiful until it became diseased and had to be removed. Since we couldn't 'bear' to completely part with the tree, the stump remains with a bear statue to greet you upon arrival. While he's not as grand as the cherry tree, we hope the bear makes you smile!
