Preserving Airspace for Balloon Operations - your help is needed!

In the next few days, we anticipate the FAA will publish an NPRM regaring 14 CFR Part 108 - DRONE Operations. We are told the comment period will be very short - just 30 days. According to our coalition partner AOPA, the government has issued a memo stating that they will take requests from interested parties to extend the comment period beyond the anticipated 30 days, but the outcome of that extension request is uncertain.

The BFA will co-sign this letter along AOPA and our other partners asking for a 60 day comment period. It also serves as an alert to the FAA that these member organizations are very concerned about the anticipated attempt to transfer our right of way below 500 feet to unmanned vehicles.

We will review the NPRM as soon as it is issued and provide a set of important talking points for you to construct your own letter of response. The BFA will submit its own letter to the FAA, along with each member of the coalition.
