Hey, hi, hello! 👋🏼 There are a LOT of new faces around here lately, so I thought it was probably time to introduce myself!
I’m Kayla, and my husband, Tyler, and I are the owners of 28th & Main Boutique & Salon. I’m also the crazy lady behind most of the posts you see on this page. 😂
Some of you may know me as “the Squishy Lady” — a nickname recently given to me by some of my former students. 😂 While it’s not exactly the nickname I would have picked for myself, I have to admit… the Squishy & Needoh craze has been SO much fun! I love seeing former students come through our doors, and I’ve met so many new faces because of those little squishies!
Before 28th & Main, I was a second grade teacher right here in Owensville. I taught for six years and absolutely loved it. I still miss the kids, the classroom, and reading to them. ❤️
I always knew, though, that someday I wanted to own a business and be a leader in some way.
These days, I’m still very much involved in education! My day job is managing an online professional development conference for preschool through second grade teachers. So if you walk into 28th & Main and see me on my computer, there’s a pretty good chance I’m working on the conference. 😂
And then there’s our other full-time job… 😂
Tyler and I have two little boys, Beau & Dale. They’re almost 3 and almost 1, and they keep us VERY busy and laughing 99% of the time! 🫶
At 28th & Main, my goal is to create a place that feels like a little bit of everything. I LOVE finding gifts for every occasion, beautiful pieces for your home, seasonal goodies, furniture, and all those fun things you didn’t know you needed until you walked through the door. 😂
I also love that our clothing rotates through different boutiques each month. Getting to collaborate with other small business owners and give them a space to share their products has quickly become one of my favorite parts of our store!
I truly believe small businesses are stronger together!! 👏 💪
One of Tyler and I’s favorite parts of owning a business in our hometown is getting to be part of the community. We love supporting local events, collaborating with other businesses, and helping wherever we can.
And, of course, none of this would run without our amazing team! We have six salon providers and three front desk girls who keep the salon and boutique going every day. They wear about 47 different hats, and we’re so grateful for each of them!❤️
