The snow was all but gone, but the wind was howling like the big bad wolf trying to blow down the lighthouse. I climbed up the steps and took a few shots holding on to the tripod with every picture because even weighted down, and I feared it would blow away.
The last rays of light had left the sky, and I had yet to find a shot I was happy with. As my fingers started screaming in protest to the relentless cold wind. I decided to take one more shot and take it all in the smell of the sea air, the brilliant glow of the lighthouse, and yes, even the bitter cold.
As I stood at the foot of the stairs for the 5th time, I reminded myself, as I often do, that it was not about the photo but the moment. Yes, I know I say this all the time, and maybe it is a continued reminder to myself. I had never had the privilege of seeing this location this way before. And thinking back to the bitter cold and wiping wind, a smile comes to my face because I can feel this moment. I have lived this moment, and that is what it is all about. Live the moment. That's what matters. This shot is far from perfect as they often are in our eyes, but that doesn't change this wonderful memory!
