Yesterday was a perfect example of what happens behind the scenes that most people never see.
I had two couples in Jamaica headed home. As many of my clients know, I track flights on travel days, and at 6:00 AM I received a notification that their flight had been delayed. I immediately reached out to let them know I was aware of the situation and already monitoring it. At that point, they could still make their connection, so I stayed hopeful.
A few hours later, another notification came through. A second delay. This time, there was no way they would make their connecting flight.
While they continued enjoying their morning at the resort, I was already researching options. Unfortunately, the only same-day alternative departed before they could realistically get from the resort to the airport. So I called the airline and started working on a new plan.
After more than two hours on the phone, I was able to get both couples rebooked. While they still had to overnight in Miami, they were confirmed on the first flight out this morning and arrived home today.
And yesโฆ I was awake again before 4:00 AM this morning tracking those same flights to make sure everything went smoothly.
People often see the fun side of being a travel advisorโthe beautiful resorts, destination photos, and exciting countdowns. And trust me, I love that part too.
What you donโt see are the early mornings & late nights, long hold times, flight monitoring, schedule changes, problem-solving, and constant behind-the-scenes work that happens when travel doesnโt go exactly as planned.
Yesterday alone I was tracking clients flying to the Bahamas, helping my Jamaica clients navigate flight disruptions on their way home, and monitoring my honeymooners returning from Barbados.
Could they have handled it themselves? Absolutely.
But instead of spending hours on hold with an airline while trying to get home, they were able to focus on getting to the airport and enjoying the last few hours of their vacation while I handled the details.
Thatโs the part of this job that doesnโt always make it onto social media.
You donโt need a travel advisor to get to paradise. But when travel plans take an unexpected turn, having someone in your corner who already knows the details, is tracking your trip, and is ready to jump into action can make all the difference.
At the end of the day, my clients know they have someone just a text or phone call awayโฆ. whether theyโre heading to paradise or heading home. The trust my clients place in me means the world, and Iโm honored to be part of so many important journeys, celebrations, and memories. โค๏ธ
