Of course....one of the great wonders of the world...the Grand Canyon. This canyon took our breath away. There is nothing in the world like this magnificent canyon. Look at the National Park Service website for more information on visiting the Grand Canyon!

The grand Monument Valley. Did you know that the Navajo believe that the two mitten shaped monuments (the left monument and center monument in the picture) are hands from a protector who lives underneath the valley? The hands are supposed to block any evil that comes toward the Valley. The Navajo have names for all of their monuments. It is truly worth it to take a tour and learn their culture.

Thank you to the View Hotel - Monument Valley for allowing this picture to happen.

I can't resist posting another photo of this canyon. Antelope Canyon is just spectacular. Did you know it is the flash floods in this canyon that makes all the canyon formations? We were told this by our tour guide from Overland Canyon Tours. You cannot reach this canyon without a tour guide. The ride from the parking lot to the canyon is one giant sand pit. You do not want your car stuck in that.... We took the 8 AM tour with Overland Canyon Tours and there were very tourist groups there which was great for photo opportunities. However, if you are a serious photographer, you can book at a special time where it would just be you and a few others in the canyon!

I wanted to redo the video from Monday. Here is the newest version with a couple images of Monument Valley. I hope that this new video gives a better essence of this grand valley. Enjoy again!

Canyonlands National Park. This picture stands on its own. We visited this canyon on a very quiet day. Sitting on the edge of a cliff, looking over the canyon, feeling the heat on your skin, listening to the occasional breeze... this was a whole new level of peace and quiet. An absolutely stunning canyon to visit in Moab, UT.

In Monument Valley, it is highly recommended to take a tour with Navajo tour guides. Not only will you have access to more of the sights, you learn about the Navajo history and culture. Also, you don't get to drive your own car! You can choose to take a one hour tour, two hour tour, half day tour, all day tour, sunrise/sunset tour, and more! We chose to do a sunrise and sunset tour with Majestic Monument Valley Touring Co. in an open roof jeep. Our tour guide was John. This is him playing a traditional Navajo tune on a wooden flute.

There were many tribes living in these canyons years ago. We stumbled upon these magnificent cave art depictions during one of our jeep adventures.

You can tell the difference in art between the two photos. Different tribes had different ways of expressing their art!

The best part was that we were able to go up close to the art. Moab, Utah has only a few locations where you can walk up to the art. A rare finding these days!

Travelling through these canyons is difficult! We COULD NOT have done anything so far without renting jeeps.

Fun little story: We watched a two wheel drive minivan attempt to drive through one of the most difficult canyon roads... We didn't watch the whole time as the minivan only drove about .2 miles in 45 minutes! I don't think that excursion ended up well...

Be smart and safe when travelling through these canyons! This is where we rented our jeep!
