Visitors can once again experience many of the spectacular overlooks and hiking opportunities at Grand Canyon National Park North Rim as the park continues its phased 2026 reopening following recovery efforts from the Dragon Bravo Fire. All paved roadways within the park have reopened, including Highway 67, Cape Royal Road, and Point Imperial Road, restoring access to iconic viewpoints such as Point Imperial, Cape Royal, Roosevelt Point, Walhalla Overlook, and Angels Window.
The entire North Kaibab Trail reopened May 15 for foot traffic only, giving hikers access from the North Rim Trailhead through the canyon once again. Trail crews will continue rehabilitation work throughout the season, and visitors should be prepared for temporary closures due to ongoing repairs. Cottonwood Campground has also reopened, providing a backcountry overnight option for hikers.
Several North Rim trails remain closed as recovery work continues, including the Widforss Trail, Transept Trail, Cape Final Trail, Cliff Spring Trail, and Roosevelt Point Trail.
Visitors planning a North Rim trip this season should expect limited services. Overnight lodging inside the park will not be available during the 2026 season, though accommodations can be found outside the park near Jacob Lake. Travelers are advised to come prepared with food and water as visitor services remain limited during the recovery period.
