Happy Statehood Colorado! As we continue our celebration of Colorado here is another interesting fact.
Colorado was almost not named Colorado. It was almost Jefferson, Osage or Colona. As a Native Coloradan I am estatic we didn’t go with another name!

Colorado became a state on America’s 100th birthday.

Colorado was admitted to the Union on August 1, 1876, just 28 days after the nation’s Centennial celebrations. That’s why Colorado is nicknamed the “Centennial State.”
