Palisade's roots run deep. At the turn of the century, coal mining and fruit growing built this valley side by side, with around a dozen mines operating in the area. Many of the men who worked those mines also tended small peach ranches, splitting their year between the orchards and the underground. It's that spirit of hard work and love for this land that still defines Palisade today!
