"The Curtain"/ 30"x40" / acrylic latex on canvas
"I read a passage in a metaphysical book in the early 70's sharing an intriguing image: the crystal-clear night sky with its billions of stars as a curtain drawn over another, deeper reality with the stars each being an opening letting the light of that hidden reality shine through in varying degrees of intensity. A simple enough concept that stayed with me. Finally, nearly 50 years later I decide to use that as a starting point for a painting. I started & stopped this project nearly 2 years ago, putting it on hold several times to be continued after finishing something else. It evolved into a more complex composition than I expected. I'll share my own interpretation later (when asked) but anyone else's is just as valid as mine!"

"Face To Face" by Erik/ acrylic latex on canvas/ sold
“I always wanted to picture someone looking in the mirror and as the drawing and then painting evolved the effect of a viewer kind of “off screen” looking in just evolved.
Interpretation: the constant inner dialogue, the ongoing silent conversation between self and Self, the incessant stream of thoughts. This is constantly taking place within every individual mind in the universe in every second of existence.
This is an inconceivably creative process where the core of identity meets the self-concept, where the “I” meets the “me”. All of the issues of our personal life originate here, both the “good” and the “bad”.
When the “big Self” talks to the “little self”, the message is always the same essential meaning: “Be Not Afraid! All is well. All of your fears are GROUNDESS!”

A few weeks ago, I posted the original drawing/concept for this painting. I just finished it.
"There can be more “message” to one IMAGE than to a thousand words.
There can be more “meaning” in one FEELING than to a million words.
Therefore, here the response to the question “what does it mean?” must be
“The less said, the better”.
Pay attention to the whispering coming up from your heart as you gaze at a sunset at dusk, that ethereal time between day and night.
Regarding this painting: one hint……

MAGENTA
Magenta is a senior in high school and has been
getting pressure from her friends to dye
her hair pink. She did the deed and now
feels remorse and regret! How can she go out in public
looking like a mad woman? Magenta decided to go to a
beauty solon and see what could be done with
her outrageous hair. The salon suggested a perm that just might
hide the damage and lighten the dark pink.
After three hours passed her hair was ready for a comb out.
Looking in the mirror she was outraged and in shock!
Turned out that her hair stood out from her skull.
It was dried out, knotted, frizzy and out of control!
Magenta ran out of the salon in tears,
got in her car and tried to compose herself. After a while she
made up her mind and thought that she should make the best
of the situation and celebrate her hair and
maybe even start a fad around school! That’s a
good way to make lemonade out of lemons!
In time it will grow out, after all it’s just hair!
