Didn’t make it over to the east side this year.

But still racked up some nice mileage.

The little rig is celebrating its first birthday 🎂 and the odometer reads over 27,500.

We’ve got a great group together going to Alaska. Six rigs of every type this time: Classes A, B, C, and a trailer. Nine people total.

This size caravan is perfect: small enough to be easy, big enough for campfire camaraderie in the evening 🔥

Forgot to charge the ZOLEO for a couple of days 😅 No big deal while in cell service, but with 0 coverage coming up on the Cassiar, I’ll pay better attention. Remote British Columbia feels more comfy knowing you can communicate going up the road.

We’re ready to start counting the bears!

Sunday

Was sweet.

While on the road, it’s nice to luck into such a treat. We’d been to before but this was the first time we caught some live music.

In the form of a songbird! The ciders were delicious as were the tunes from

Doubly fun when the show begins at 5 and the LPM ratio is low (listeners to musicians 😍). It felt like an intimate house concert with libations straight from the farm.

🫎 !!

Waiting for this year’s caravan crew to gather at the state park, as is tradition for the journey north.

Mid May is a great time to set out for Alaska for many reasons.

Winter is falling away. Spring has begun to pop. Wildlife and their babies are on the move.

Campgrounds are opening. Our Canadian hosts are ready for us.

We’re ahead of the “summer traffic”, even though that means the difference between seeing one car in places versus none.

It’s a 40-hour drive from the WA state line to south central Alaska. We divide that into a 10-day trip which seems like a good balance between moving, breaking, and overnighting. With the sun about to shine all day long, there’s plenty of time for morning coffee, photo ops on the way, and roadside breaks for stretching people and pup legs.

British Columbia and Yukon Territory has to be seen to be believed. Although there are days without connectivity, I’ll post as much as possible of my favorite road trip ever. Come along with us.

Till we go wild 🐻 🫎 🦅 🚐

The countdown is on for the trip to Alaska.

Each year, Let’s Go Together hosts a caravan to the Last Frontier.

We keep it small (5-10 rigs), leisurely and efficient (10 days/9 nights) and fun (of course).

All kinds go, including vans, trailers, and motorhomes. Anyone who’s comfortable operating and living in their rig for 3000 miles can do the trip (reliability is a must).

90% of the road is just as good (or not) as the roads down here.

We’ve had a cancellation this year and a spot is available. Everything is set up for you; you just need to meet us in WA by May 18th.

Driving to Alaska spur of the moment would be pretty wild itself.

Somewhere?

It’s right here! ☀️

It’s like a light switch is flipped when spring moves into the Pacific Northwest. The collective WOO HOO in the air is palpable.

TLDL:
Long reel alert 🚨😄

April marks the 1-year anniversary of driving a brand new shorty off the lot. It’s been a good 25,328 miles.

I call it a shorty, because it’s a 20’5” Class C, ‘s alternative to a van or Class B.

A full on motorhome that fits in a parking space, this little rig rose to all occasions on the road.

I had my sights set on a camper van but when these shorties came back to the market, I opted into more room for less money 🤔 🤷🏻‍♀️

We didn’t make it over to the east side (of the country) this winter but Road Dawg* and I had a blast taking the rig from

FL > WA > AK > WA > OR > CA > AZ > NM

and now back to the PNW for our annual trek to Alaska.

*Road Dawg has more than 300,000 miles on him and is performing well, way past his warranty (14 years and counting).

Been a while.

Since making my way south.

I departed Alaska for the L48 the latest I’ve ever done before. This year, there wasn’t a southbound caravan back and I had reason to stay awhile, so I pushed off from Palmer mid-September. Solo.

Following fall down the continent is amazing. You have to time it right to get out in front of snowfall in Alaska. The upside is empty roads, quiet campgrounds, and colors not really captured by phone snaps.

We (Wyatt & I) had a smooth journey back. Have been spending time in WA and OR before setting our sights on Arizona.

We’ve had some beautiful camp outs on the coast. Made new friends and ate great meals.

We’re about to begin the long drive we do each winter; down to FL to see good ol’ dad. Hope your turkey week is cozy and filled with good cheer.
