We have a herd of 19 Huacaya alpacas, being raised for their fine quality fiber & gentle disposition.

We have a herd of 16 Huacaya alpacas, being raised for their fine quality fiber. Some of our ladies are pregnant and we’re expecting the next cria (alpaca baby) in early 2023. Our Sponsor-an-Alpaca program is a wonderful gift for those who would like a more personal experience with our animals, and it helps support the care and feeding of our alpacas. The farm is periodically open to the public fo

r free family-oriented events. We offer farm tours and alpaca walking, trails to explore through 23 wooded acres and along Ballinger Creek, and 3 picnic areas where you can bring your own lunch and enjoy our peace-filled farm. If you have mobility issues, we can drive you around the farm on our quiet electric golf cart. We teach knitting and crocheting, and periodically present workshops on many aspects of working with fleece. There is also an alpaca store where you can buy alpaca clothing and accessories and alpaca-themed gifts.

What happens during Firefly Nights?
Guests arrive near sundown.
The alpacas begin settling down for the night.
Children receive a simple activity booklet.
We’ll have a short firefly Q&A.
The campfire will be ready.
S’mores supplies will be waiting.
As darkness settles, we’ll watch for fireflies in the meadow.

For a safe and comfortable Firefly Nights visit, please plan ahead:
Wear closed-toe shoes. The meadow may be damp.
Use bug spray before walking down to the meadow.
Bring a flashlight for walking after dark.
Keep lights pointed down and use them only when needed.
Children should stay with their adults.
Please walk gently and avoid running in the dark.

A helpful note for Firefly Nights guests:
We do have one PortaPotty, but it is located near the parking area. Firefly Nights takes place down in the lower meadow, and the walk back to the restroom is uphill and dark after sunset.
We strongly recommend taking care of restroom needs before joining the activities in the lower meadow.
Bring a flashlight for safe walking, and wear closed-toe shoes.

Did you know fireflies are actually beetles?
Their flashing lights help them communicate, especially during mating season. Different kinds of fireflies have different flash patterns, and the darkness of a meadow helps them find each other.
At Firefly Nights, we’ll talk briefly about fireflies, why they glow, and how we can help protect them.
