Panama City Beach,
We are approaching the start of our Spring Break High Impact Period. The juvenile curfew goes into effect at 12:01 AM this Saturday.
We have put the message out. We have said it in every way possible. By now, everyone should understand what this time period means, what is expected, what is restricted, and what will happen if those expectations are ignored.
Let’s be honest, there will be some who choose to learn the hard way. We are not blind to the fact that criminals do not follow the law. But understand this, they will be dealt with.
With change comes obstacles. We expect that. We are ready for that. And we will address them head on.
There is no way to predict exactly what we will see during this period compared to years past. That will depend on how these expectations are received and followed by those coming to our city.
But here is what we do know. This community is stronger than the actions of a few who come here with bad intentions. We are not letting them define who we are.
What we can promise is clear expectations and real consequences for anyone who comes here to commit crimes or victimize our community.
And for anyone who thinks this is temporary, it is not. This is the direction we are going, and we are not turning back.
This is not about a couple of weekends. This is about setting a standard and protecting what makes this community worth being a part of.
Our officers and our law enforcement partners are ready. They will be out there doing the work, standing the line, and holding people accountable.
We’re asking for your patience and your support as we continue moving forward.
We’re not going backwards!
Let’s get to work.
