The Making Tracks Memorial is symbolic to our past guiding us towards our future. Being the host of the 2002 Winter Olympic and Paralympic games was a pivotal time in our history. Not only did it let the world in our secret little mountain town, but it also gave us some of our most utilized infrastructure like the Olympic Park, a key player in helping uplift local athletes and provide recreational winter and summertime activities. We are preparing to host the games in 2034, an extremely exciting next step for us here in Park City, but also Utah as whole. The shape of the statue also pays homage to our years hosting the Sundance FIlm festival, mirroring that of a film roll.
The duality of the statue’s meaning provides a perfect space for the band, where the blend of the music’s styles perfectly captures multi-cultural and international cooperation at the heart of the Olympics.
