Traveling This Thanksgiving? 7 Tips You’ll Be Glad You Knew!

Thanksgiving travel can be hectic, but a little insider knowledge can make all the difference. Before you head to the airport or hit the road this holiday season, here are seven tips worth saving!

1. The cheapest flight might be the most expensive mistake.
That tight connection might save you $75, but one delay could derail your holiday plans. During busy travel periods, prioritize nonstop flights or connections with plenty of breathing room.

2. Book the first flight of the day. Early flights are often less vulnerable to delays that build throughout the day. Bonus: If something goes wrong, you generally have more opportunities to get rebooked.

3. Track your incoming aircraft, not just your flight. Your airline app may say "On Time," but where is your plane? Tools like FlightAware can help you see whether your aircraft is running behind before your flight status changes.

4. Take a photo of your checked luggage. If your suitcase goes missing, having a recent photo makes it much easier to describe. Keep a luggage tag with your contact information inside your bag, too! And if possible, throw an Air tag inside!

5. Bringing Thanksgiving dinner through TSA? Know the rules!
Pies, cakes, and other solid foods can generally travel in your carry-on. But cranberry sauce, gravy, and other spreadable or liquid foods over 3.4 ounces typically belong in checked luggage.

6. Your airport parking reservation deserves as much attention as your flight. Holiday parking facilities can fill up. Reserve ahead, check shuttle schedules, and allow extra time if you're using an off-site lot.

7. Watch the weather where your plane is coming FROM.
Sunny skies at your departure airport don't guarantee smooth sailing. A storm hundreds of miles away can delay the aircraft or crew scheduled for your flight.

✨ One final piece of advice: If your travel plans involve multiple flights, hotels, transfers, or destinations, having someone who understands how all those pieces fit together can make a world of difference.

I believe great travel experiences begin long before you pack your suitcase.

Curated by Kerry was never meant to be about booking the highest number of trips or working with as many travelers as possible.

I intentionally keep the number of clients I work with manageable because I want every trip to get my time, attention and creativity.

I want to know how you like to travel. What matters to you. What you’re excited about. What you absolutely don’t want. And all those little details that can turn a good vacation into an incredible one.

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all itineraries. Every trip I plan is built around the people taking it, their interests, their pace, their priorities and their budget.

Sometimes that means finding the perfect hotel. Sometimes it’s uncovering an experience you never would have found on your own. And sometimes it’s simply knowing there’s someone in your corner when travel doesn’t go exactly according to plan.

One of my favorite parts of being a travel advisor is watching a trip go from an idea…to an itinerary…to reservations, tours and all those little details…and then finally realizing, they’re actually there! ✈️

A group of travelers I’ve been planning for are officially on their way through Portugal and Barcelona, and I’m so excited to follow along from home. Wish I was there too, as it's my favorite place on earth!

Over the next couple of weeks, they’ll experience Lisbon, the Algarve, Porto and Barcelona, with some pretty incredible experiences planned along the way. 🇵🇹 🇪🇸

And while they’re traveling, I’ll be keeping an eye on things behind the scenes, making sure everything stays on track and being there if they need me.

This is the part of travel planning I really love. It’s not just booking a trip. It’s helping turn someone’s “we should go someday” into “we’re here.” ❤️
