William Patrick Partridge, 77, of Fort Scott, Kansas, died at 7:24 p.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at his residence near Fort Scott. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard with Pastor Michael Hofmann officiating. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Monday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard where friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Monday.

William was born March 16, 1949 in Hutchinson, Kansas, a son of Billie Lee and Evelyn (Wagoner) Partridge. He grew up and attended schools in Hutchinson and graduated from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.

He married Anita L. Roth on August 14, 1970 in Hutchinson and Anita survives of the home.

William worked as an electrical engineer at Centel Electric in Concordia, Victory Electric in Dodge City, and in 2006 he retired from Heartland Electric in Girard.

William enjoyed his family, farming, raising cattle, antique tractors, and in earlier years camping, boating, and woodworking.

William and Anita attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Anita, of the home, are his sons, Christopher Partridge, and his wife, Michelle, of Rose Hill and Wayne Partridge of Lansing. His grandchildren, Madison Hanna, and her husband, Dustin, Johnathan Partridge, Branden Partridge, Weston Partridge, Earleen Partridge, Payton Partridge, and Jasmine Partridge. His brothers, Dan Partridge, and his wife, Rhonda, of Lawrence and Ron Partridge of Hutchinson. His sisters, Gwen Weidman, and her husband, John, of Richmond, Virginia and Donnis Viegra of Hutchinson.

William was preceded in death by his parents.

Judy L. Gevara, 70, of Parsons, passed away Monday morning, August 31, 2026. No services are planned at this time.

She was born on January 6, 1956 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Mickey and Gladys (Holmes) Gevara.

Judy grew up in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School. In earlier years she for worked for Power Flame. Judy enjoyed going to casinos and playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, Trudy Gevara, sister, Juanita Hammer, brother, Thomas Gevara and a sister-in-law, Virginia Gevara.

Donald J. “Donnie” Vitt, 63, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and formerly of Parsons, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026. The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 4, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons. There will be a private family inurnment at Valley Cemetery in rural Parsons at a later date.

Rose M. Scott, 65, resident of Chetopa, passed away at 8:13 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Fairview Cemetery in Melrose, rural Chetopa. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.

Rose Mary Humphrey was born September 22, 1960, in Miami, Oklahoma, to Eugene M. & Beverly Ann (Heale) Humphrey. Raised with five siblings, she started school in Picher before moving to a Washington orchard in 1967 after the mines closed. The family returned to Oklahoma in the early 1970s following the tragic loss of her sister Linda. A devoted student, Rose graduated with honors from Tahlequah High School in 1979-a lifelong source of pride.

In her twenties, she lived free-spirited, “sowing her wild oats” before marrying ‘He who will not be named’ in 1986. That union brought the absolute brightest blessings of her life: her daughters, Annie & Shelly. Following a painful divorce & her father's passing in the 1990s, Rose planted roots in Chetopa to build a new life, taking nursing courses while working locally as a nurse & dietitian.

She reunited with Bobby L. Scott in 2001, they married on July 4, 2003, at Victory Baptist Church. Moving to Broken Arrow in 2004, she showed true grit working as a machinist at Tulsa’s Chili Bowl factory, keeping chili & BBQ equipment running in a male-dominated field. Health warnings following a 2007 heart attack prompted her return to Chetopa to be near family. In 2012, she welcomed her favorite role with the birth of her only grandchild, Blaine, fully stepping into life as his Nana. Bobby passed away on June 21, 2021, remaining her "Forever Love."

From 2024 onward, Rose resided at Oswego Health & Rehab—where she had worked in her youth—becoming a favorite among staff. She loved family visits, "Fashion Shows" by her nieces, & chatting with caretakers. The day before her passing, her quick-responding favorite med aid ensured Rose stayed long enough for family to travel & say goodbye before she stubbornly, then peacefully, joined loved ones at the Pearly Gates.

Known for her intelligence, candor, & sharp sense of humor, Rose was deeply esteemed for her warm demeanor & loved nothing more than sharing a laugh with family & friends.

She is survived by her two daughters, Ann Marie Conner (her partner, Randy Stewart, along with his son, Carter) & Michele Conner; one grandson, Blaine Eugene Thomas; one brother, Robert Humphrey & his wife, Lenora; two sisters, Dorothy Crook, & Johnna McDaniel & her husband, Darrell; nieces & nephews, Rickie, Belinda, Melinda, Telia, Joshwa, Serenity, & Paige; great-nieces, Alexis & Aurora; & two great-great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, & two sisters, Linda Humphrey & Caroline Humphrey.

Bryan L. Fraker, 56, of Parsons, passed from this earth to be with his Lord in Heaven Friday, August 21, 2026 at the home of his parents, surrounded by his loving family. Bryan L. He was born December 31, 1969, at Parsons, a son of Dixie “Dick” J. and Shirley Ann (Brown) Fraker. He grew up at Parsons and attended Parsons schools, graduating from the Parsons High School with the Class of 1988. He then attended the Labette Community College and graduated with an Associate’s Degree. He was currently working at Magnum Research as a machinist.
In early years, he was a member of Boy Scouts of America. He loved to spend time at the family farm and enjoyed fishing and camping. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family. Working out with his dad at the PEC Center was one thing he loved most.
Bryan was the proud father of Joshua L. and Matthew D. Fraker, both of Parsons.

Catherine M. Wutke, 80, of Shawnee, Kansas, formerly of Fort Scott and Girard, died at 8:44 a.m., Monday, August 24, 2026 in the Health Service Center at Santa Marta in Olathe. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 29, 2026 at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Pastor Larry White officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Girard Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Catherine was born September 5, 1945 in Girard, a daughter of Leonard James and Mary (Gibson) Cuthbertson. Catherine grew up and attended schools in Girard and she graduated from Pittsburg State University and received her master’s degree from Kansas State University.

Catherine married Sam Charles Wutke on November 24, 1966 in Girard and Sam died March 16, 2007.

Catherine retired from AT&T as a computer programmer and in human relations before working in adult education at the Southeast Kansas Educational Service Center in Greenbush, Kansas.

Catherine was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Girard and the Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village. Catherine was very active as a volunteer and she sang in the choir in her church. She was also a caregiver for her brother, Charles, and for her husband, Sam. She also did volunteer work for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Catherine enjoyed shopping and buying gifts for her nieces and nephews, indulging in sweets, and traveling. She enjoyed decorating and she and Sam lived in a beautiful home in Fort Scott that she decorated.

She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority at Pittsburg State University.

Survivors include her nieces, Cheryl Michelet, Kristin Weis, Lindsey Schneider, and Angie Hickman. Her nephews, Sam Wutke, Brent Crawford, Lance Reeves, Drew Wutke, and Dane Wutke. Numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Catherine’s brothers-in-law Charles Crawford of Merriam,

Dave Wutke, and his wife, Robin, of Girard and Steve Wutke of Springfield, Missouri and her sister-in-law, Betty Wutke, of Springfield.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sam, her brother, Charles L. Cuthbertson, her sister, Charlotte Crawford, and her brother-in-law, Ron Wutke.
