2025 PATAGONIA FALL FESTIVAL PERFORMER SPOTLIGHT
Arizona Balalaika Orchestra
A symphony of strings, color, and cultural pride—get ready for the Arizona Balalaika Orchestra, a 13-member powerhouse bringing the spirited sounds of Slavic folk traditions to the heart of Patagonia!
Founded in 1980 within the University of Arizona’s Russian Department, this Tucson-based ensemble has blossomed into a dynamic, non-profit folk orchestra beloved throughout Arizona and beyond. Performing in vibrant costumes and playing native Slavic instruments like the domra, balalaika, and bayan, the group transforms every show into a cultural celebration.
Whether touring Mexico, collaborating with international dancers and soloists from Moscow and Kiev, or jamming in local festivals, their mission remains clear: to preserve and share the joyful energy and heritage of Eastern European music.
As a longtime favorite at the Tucson Folk Festival, we’re thrilled to welcome them to Patagonia this fall, where they’ll bring a burst of global rhythm to our small-town celebration of art, music, and community.
At the Patagonia Fall Festival, we believe in honoring tradition while creating space for discovery and connection. The Arizona Balalaika Orchestra does just that—reminding us that music is a language that crosses all borders.
Catch their performance this October in the heart of Patagonia and feel the joy for yourself!
