The action hasn’t slowed down!

We had a late fishing trip yesterday evening, and today several more trips hit the water! The crappie, white bass, and hybrid striper bite continues to keep rods bent and smiles on faces.

BigCrappie Crappie Poppers

If you’re looking for a simple way to turn your fresh Cedar Creek crappie into an appetizer everyone will fight over, give these Crappie Poppers a try!

Ingredients

* Fresh crappie fillets
* Jalapeños
* Cream cheese
* Bacon
* Lemon pepper seasoning

Directions

Step 1

Cut the jalapeños in half lengthwise and use a spoon to remove the seeds and membranes.

Step 2

Fill each jalapeño half with cream cheese.

Step 3

Place a small piece of fresh crappie on top of the cream cheese.

Step 4

Dust each popper generously with lemon pepper seasoning.

Step 5

Wrap or top each popper with a 2-inch piece of bacon.

Step 6

Place the poppers on your Traeger or in an oven preheated to 400°F.

Step 7

Cook for approximately 45 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the crappie is fully cooked.

Pro Tip

For a little extra flavor, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the poppers right before serving.

Crappie are still biting strong in 12–22 feet of water, and the minnow bite has been the ticket. White bass and hybrid stripers are still giving anglers plenty of action as well!
