The Hawkins House garden won the 2025 Arkansas Master Gardeners Project of the Year award. Saturday morning there will be a tour of the garden at 10:00 am, led by a member of the Benton County Arkansas Master Gardeners. This is a quick walk from the Farmers Market, downtown shopping, and great restaurants.

Doesn't that sound like a fun Saturday morning? Park your car once to experience downtown Rogers and tour an award-winning garden.

Bentonville and Rogers have amazing coffee shops - some getting press and awards nationally and internationally. Yet one of may favorite places for coffee is the cafe table in my kitchen garden. Luckily, locally roasted coffee is pretty easy to find on grocery store shelves as well as in the coffee shops. I'd call that a win/win.

My sister and I ran by Cook's Natural Market to pick up a few things today. After sampling some of their new smoothies (delicious!), we ordered lunch. After shopping a bit, we sat down in their new cafe area to enjoy our chicken wraps.

Cook's natural, allergy friendly, and organic products include produce, supplements, baked and deli foods, bulk items, teas, and so much more. I stocked up on natural cleaning supplies.

They did a great job repairing and remodeling after last year's tornado. The building was the Rogers Post Office when I was growing up - so glad they saved the structure.

Have you looked into 37 North Expeditions‘ adventures? They have posted their excursions through July on their website.

Even in July, caves are cool - literally. The description for Mine Kayaking & Winery on July 19 in Springfield advises you to “bring warm layers”. Closer to home, there is a Cave Tour & Distillery on July 13 out of Bentonville.

New to town and want to explore the area? This way you can with other people, a guide, transportation, equipment, and a beverage. Why stay on the sofa?

This is my favorite flower arrangement at this weekend’s Art in Bloom at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

Siloam Flowers & Gifts - the subtle pinks among the shades of cream, the vase, the shapes - it is perfection!

ALL of the many arrangements located throughout the museum are creative and well worth viewing - go see them! I will return to view the designs along the trails, which will be on display into June.

Also, after experiencing a guided tour as part of the Cocktail Tour last night, I am definitely taking a few more of the many tours Crystal Bridges offers. The insights, the back stories of artists and world events going on at the time, pointing out details I may have missed - I am so impressed by the volunteer tour guides.

I truly enjoyed both the art and the architecture tours at the Heartland Whole Health Institute's opening today. The impressive art and architecture means so much more when a guide explains the details, the why, and the stories.

The opening celebration, including tours, music, sound bowl meditations, and more, continues for the next few days. After that, the first floor space and the art exhibit is open to the public on weekdays. So is a meditation room that reminds me of James Turrell's "Skyspace: The Way of Color" at Crystal Bridges.

Did you notice these stunning purple blooms as you drove into Crystal Bridges campus to see the Heartland Whole Health Institute today? They are Baptisia or False Indigo, long-lived, drought tolerant, native perennials. The Baptsia in my garden is a yellow variety; white is another common color.

Kudos to the folks who design, install and maintain the landscaping that celebrates plants native to our region on the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art campus.

Mmmm… wine flights and fish & chips at Tusk & Trotter American Brasserie Rogers in downtown Rogers. I love dining outside - and their patio looks out onto Railyard Park. They were great at accommodating a group of 12 for our visit.
