I told my daughter she should take me to lunch for a belated Boy’s Day celebration. Benihana ribeye special and a Ribeye loco moco??? Hamada General Store is the place to be if you want the rest of your day to be useless. Moimoi for the moi professional.

Happy Boys Day to Myself. Decided to take myself fishing for boys day. Just after sunset my pole bent over and the reeled screamed. It pulled so hard I thought it was a turtle. It hit the bait very close to shore and then raced across the water. As it got closer it looked like a small hammerhead so I relaxed on the fight. When I got a good look and saw the reflection of the eyes I knew it was a MOI. Fortunately I was able to get it close and get it in the net. You guys know me, I catch moi all the time but this one is special. For a few seconds I thought about bringing it home in the live well but after the adrenaline wore off I was exhausted. Best part of the story is that I have the video of the fight. My second camera over heated but I still had my head mount running. I will post the video later with details on my gear, rigs and bait. Best Boys Day Ever! My Boys Day Flag will be my new MOI gyotaku print.

Day trip to Maui yesterday. Always stop by to see the Mayor of Wailuku. If you are looking for fishing or diving gear on Maui this is the place to be. I dropped off some garlic chicken sushi for Brian and the boys at . Of course we talked about gear and fishing. Brian asked me how I was able to get moi home alive. Try carrying 20 gallons of sea water 200 yards to your live well in the 4runner. This is after you catch the moi and have another 10 gallons on the beach with dual air pumps. I always check with Brian to find new spots to eat. On this day he sent me to Kalei’s Lunch Box.

Why would they make this? Those of you who have been on my foodie adventures know that I do not eat while working. For safety reasons I do not eat all day. There are some items that temp me like banana lumpia but I can usually fight the urge. Now they have have this creation. Take two warm banana lumpia covered in caramelized sugar and add vanilla ice cream, strawberries a cherry and chocolate drizzle? Really???
