news you can use!

Have you tried to rent a car lately and thought..whoa, I didnt want to buy a car, I just want to rent it for a week. While during the pandemic, there were some great deals on car rentals , there are some reasons that those rates may be just a memory! It is really a question of supply and demand.

During the pandemic , car rental companies had to sell off large percentages of their fleets; they sold off as many vehicles as they could as quickly as they could to size down for lack of rental demand. For most of 2020, the reduced fleet was not a problem..people just weren't renting cars.

Things have changed in recent months; people want to travel! That is leading to the supply and demand issue...fewer cars and higher prices. Some travelers headed for popular destinations like Hawaii or Phoenix, are finding high prices or cars completely sold out. It is going to take some time and money before car rental companies can expand those fleet inventories.

When you can, rent those cars in advance. When you book your flight with us, ask for the rental car at the same time. If it turn out you dont need it, we can always cancel it.

Considering flying in the next few months? You are probably aware that masks are required and hand sanitizer is your friend. TSA has relaxed the 3.4oz restriction on limits for hand sanitizers to 12 oz, so load up! Airlines use HEPA filters (high efficiency particulate air) which refresh cabin air every 2-3 minutes, and disinfect high touch surfaces between every flight However, you can grab that sanitizer that you brought with you and wipe down the back seat video screens, and arm rests and tray tables. And remember to social distance while in the airport; waiting areas and people mover sidewalks or shuttles are sanitized more that usual, but maybe give yourself a little more time and walk to your gate. At TSA checkpoints you may be asked to lower your mask for identification purposes, but the rest of the time, keep your mask on. Use the restroom before you board, so you can avoid that cramped plane lavatory.

Also, remember that the airlines have new rules about taking your emotional support animal onboard with you. This new ruling states that airlines do not have to recognize emotional support animals ...animals that provide comfort and support as service animals. A service animal is trained to work or perform tasks for the benefit of someone with a disability; they are not pets. In addition, the airlines are also permitted to limit service animals to dogs. This ruling does not mean you cant take your small pet onboard in an approved pet carrier ..there is a charge for those pet passengers!

good morning!
Here is some news you can use...
A lot of you are probably aware that the airlines have eliminated change fees for airline tickets. This is really good news and great savings if you have to change plans on existing tickets. The tickets remain non refundable and there could be an add collect in fare, but doing away with the airline imposed penalties to change can save up to 200 dollars a ticket !

Also, the destination restrictions for travel change constantly! Here is a good link for domestic travel and it does update frequently..

Hope everyone is doing well...staying healthy! Just checking in to let you know a couple of things. First of all, if you have tickets or arrangements that you made and canceled any time after March, and are wondering about reusing them or how long you have to reuse them, please contact me. The airlines ..and some of the other vendors..have changed their rules many times in the last few months. It may be that the rules or the extension you had originally has changed. Feel free to check with me so I can check it out for you.
Also! The best way to get ahold of me currently is to either email me : [email protected] or to call or text my cell 541 215 0252. I am not always at my desk, but I have my cell with me about 99 percent of the time!

My apologies for not being 'present' on social media the last few weeks. The entire travel industry has been experiencing an unprecedented surge in service requests due to covid 19. We have tried to be forward thinking about refunds, reaccommodations, and procedures. Airlines have flooded our email with waivers and policies. While we respect and recognize the difficulties that our airline partners and vendors are experiencing, we also have to be sure that we have the right information to best serve our local community and loyal clients. Sometimes getting that right information includes numerous repeat calls and long hold times!
Like many of you, I have been working from home and last month decided to move from my downtown location to my home for the time being. Please know that both Sharon and I continue to be available 24/7. We appreciate all the emails and calls!
If you have questions or concerns about travel plans or the new normal for travel please call me at 541 276 4821 or 541 215 0252 or email me [email protected]

Bluemoon is continuing to work from home during this time. Please email me at jane@travelbluemoon. com or call my cell 541 215 0252. Please know that Sharon (in Hermiston ) and I are here to assist you. We receive notifications from airlines about canceling and waiving penalties for flights on almost a daily basis. We are reaching out to any and all vendors that we have booked vacations with to stay current on any cancellations and options that they are providing. We ask for your patience while we wait on hold or scour websites to make sure we are taking care of our valued clients in the best possible way available to us.
I want to thank my wonderful clients who have called or reached out with words of support and kindness. It is appreciated more than you can imagine!
Take care and stay safe!

Sorry I haven't been on here in the last few weeks. As you are all aware by now, COVID19 has changed day to day activities in the United States and of course, travel is no exception. I want you all to know that Sharon (in Hermiston) and I are working very hard to take care of our clients whose travel has been impacted. We are constantly monitoring waivers and refund status notifications from airlines and vendors and making sure that our clients bookings are properly documented and processed according to the rules of the particular booking,...and there are many! This process has impacted our business in many ways, but please know that your safety and concerns are our number one priority. I may not be in my office with regular hours, because we find that the long hold times to vendors and airlines are somewhat less in early am hours or late at night. So I will be working from home more to accommodate those call times.

If you are waiting to hear from us about future travel plans, please know that you are valued and important to us as well. We are simply prioritizing the need of our clients as best we can. We will try to update here as much as we can.
Thank you for your continuing support of our business and for your patience as we navigate this new reality!

Please attend if you can.
