It's a time to be grateful. It's fall, y'all. October 20, 2026. We at the Pendleton Historic Foundation are grateful for our volunteers. We could not operate without volunteers. The members of the board, the docents for the houses and the Guard House, the folks who cut the grass and maintain the yards, the people who help clean, the actors at our events, the demonstrators at our school tours and first Sunday activities, and the ones who schedule and organize our rentals, group tours, and activities are all volunteers. Our one paid employee does all he can to help all of these people and then everything else that needs to be done. Thank you. Please consider becoming one of our valuable and valued volunteers. The PHF needs you. Contact Ellen Harrison at [email protected] or call the Pendleton Historic Foundation at 864-646-7249.

On September 25, 2026, twenty students and fourteen parents of The Rock Homeschool Fellowship came to visit Ashtabula. They learned about chickens and eggs, foraged for chicken feed, played some old-fashioned games, and took a tour of the house. The Pendleton Historic Foundation thanks them all for coming and thanks Carol Helander, Harriet Smith, Heather Goodyear of The Path Farm, and Ellen Harrison for volunteering their time and expertise to give these guests a great experience. Enjoy these pictures of the fun.

Good Monday morning, October 19. It's feeling like fall or autumn in our part of the world. In his poem "To Autumn," John Keats referred to this time of year as the "Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness." That is an accurate description. Enjoy this mellow season as you enjoy lovely and historic Pendleton. Our house museums, Ashtabula and Woodburn, are a major part of that historic beauty. Add our beautifully restored Jenkins House Event Venue to the mix for a place to celebrate that history. Come visit and learn the stories of the folks who lived on these properties. Pendleton and real history are waiting.

Christmas is coming. The Pendleton Historic Foundation has plans. We have a favor to ask. A big favor. A six foot favor.
Does anyone have a 6 foot, or taller, CEDAR tree that you would cut down for us to use at Ashtabula as our Christmas tree? It does not have to be perfect or even anywhere close to perfect. We would be so appreciative. Contact Ellen Harrison at [email protected] or call the Pendleton Historic Foundation at 864-646-7249. You will help us make our Christmas perfect. Thank you.
