I have fished Smith Mountain lake for over 25 years and like to think I’ve built a reputation for striper fishing in our area. I also have extensive knowledge of night fishing Smith Mountain. Great bunch of guys to spend a morning on the water with! We’ve absolutely spanked the stripers on our last four trips, and the fishing has been nothing short of incredible.

These cooler mornings are really starting to change the bite, and we’re seeing a great mix of topwater breaking action and deep-water jigging. Watching those fish bust on top and then dropping down and putting them in the boat on jigs has made for some awesome days on Smith Mountain Lake!

Fall fishing is here, and the stripers are fired up. If you’ve been waiting for the cooler weather to get on the water, now is the time! 🎣🔥

Well, it doesn’t get much better than this! 🎣 This young lady landed the biggest Striper of the year on our boat so far on Smith Mountain Lake this year—and she did it jigging! What an incredible fish and an unforgettable catch.

Congratulations on an amazing Striper, and even better, a successful release to give someone else the opportunity to experience the thrill of catching this beautiful fish again. Great job! 👏🎣

StripeX vs Catch the Fever Rods!!

That sounds like a good review idea, especially since you’ve used both Stripex and Catch the Fever rods for several years. I’d like to focus on real-world guide use, rather than just specs.

Some questions I’d consider:

* How do they hold up after several seasons of heavy use?
* Which rod has the best backbone for fighting big stripers?
* How do they perform with planer boards?
* Which has the better sensitivity for detecting bites?
* How do they handle different lure weights and trolling setups?
* How comfortable are they after a full day of fishing?
* How do the guides, reel seats, and handles hold up?
* Have you had any breakage or warranty issues?
* Which rod would you choose for a new striper fisherman?
* If you could only keep one brand for your guide service, which would it be and why?
* How do they compare in price versus performance?

Since I have used them for years, I think your biggest advantage is being able to say, “This is what I’ve actually seen on the water after hundreds of trips,” rather than just repeating manufacturer specifications.

I would like to get your feedback with any questions you may have before writing this review. Also, I have not received any donations or new rods from the manufacturer. I have purchased these myself.
