Finger Lakes Ice Cover: The smaller lakes are mostly iced over, not much ice on Canandaigua Lake (except for north and south ends). Seneca, Cayuga and Skaneateles Lakes have minimal ice, mostly confined to the northern edges. Image from yesterday via NASA, this will change dramatically after temps reach the 40’s this week. PLEASE exercise situational awareness when it comes to determining ice safety on the Finger Lakes.

Minutes from Keuka Belle

Transformation Tuesday: The seasons change, the beauty stays the same. Winter & Spring above the USA Field near Keuka Lake south of Penn Yan, NY. This patriotic display emerged in the days after the tragic events of September 11, 2001 when Darlene and Gary Cronk had the massive letters etched in the farm field. It has remained there ever since and these days the current owners of the farm, Greg MacDonald and his son, keep that wonderful tradition forging ahead.

The Saunders Finger Lakes Museum: Each time I drive by the construction site at the Saunders Finger Lakes Museum in Branchport, NY—I get more and more excited about what this will look like and offer to visitors. Top image I captured there today near Keuka Lake, bottom image is a rendering of what the finished product will look like. This will become a destination spot for folks across the region, as well as the countless tourists who visit the Finger Lakes. I’ll be doing more on this as progress continues.
