Goodbye, Hong Kong. 🇭🇰✨

What a way to sail away. Watching that skyline light up from our own home was absolutely spectacular.

We only had a short time here, but Hong Kong definitely left us wanting more. And moments like this are such a reminder of how lucky we are to live this life — one incredible view after another, right outside our door.

Onward with the Odyssey. 🌊💙

Exploring Hong Kong Island 🇭🇰

After taking the ferry across Victoria Harbour, we spent the day wandering through Central, the markets, Hollywood Road, little side streets, flower stalls, seafood markets and everything in between.

Hong Kong actually reminded us a little of Singapore mixed with Japan — super modern and organized in places, but then you turn a corner and you’re in these older, packed little streets and markets with so much going on.

That contrast was probably one of our favorite things about it. Skyscrapers, local markets, old neighborhoods and harbor views all packed together.

With only about 36 hours in Hong Kong, we were moving fast and trying to see as much as possible. 😂

Definitely a city we could have spent more time exploring. 🇭🇰

Hong Kong, you were way too much fun for such a short visit. 🇭🇰❤️

We absolutely loved our time here and definitely wish we’d had a few more days to explore. There was so much to see and do, and getting around was surprisingly easy. Ferries, the MTR, buses, taxis… once we figured it out, we were all over the place. 😂

And of course we had to experience the famous Central–Mid-Levels Escalator — such a fun and completely different way to move through the city.

From the markets and busy streets of Mong Kok to Hong Kong Island, Victoria Peak, harbor views and everything in between, we tried to pack in as much as we possibly could.

Our biggest takeaway? Not enough time. We’d definitely come back. 🇭🇰

Johan isn’t exactly the “let’s stop at every tourist attraction and temple” kind of traveler. 😂 But if we’re walking right past one… I’m making him stop.

We passed Man Mo Temple in Hong Kong and I couldn’t resist. Just a quick peek turned into candles, lanterns, giant incense coils and me walking back out smelling like I had been smoked for dinner. 😂

But hey… we got some pretty great footage out of it! Totally worth the stop.

How many people can say there’s a Ferris wheel outside their bedroom window tonight? 🎡

That’s one of the coolest parts about living on a residential cruise ship. Here in Ha Long, it’s a Ferris wheel. In Singapore, we had cable cars passing right outside. 🚠 And the next port? We never really know what will be waiting outside our window.

Same bedroom. Different backyard. Different country. 🌎🛳️

Our first Hong Kong train ride 🚇🇭🇰

We hopped on the MTR in Mong Kok and headed down to Yau Ma Tei to check out the wholesale fruit market.

This ended up being such a fun stop. Rows and rows of colorful fruit, handwritten price signs, giant piles of durian, dragon fruit, melons, grapes and more than I could even name. 😂

I love places like this because it feels less like checking off a tourist attraction and more like getting a little peek at everyday life in the city.

Hong Kong definitely kept surprising us around every corner.

36 hours in Hong Kong and we were definitely making every minute count. 🇭🇰

One of our favorite stops was wandering through the streets and markets of Mong Kok. So much color, so many little stalls, and people everywhere. This is the kind of exploring we love most — no big plan, just walking and seeing what we find.

Hong Kong had such a fun mix of modern city and old-school market streets, and Mong Kok was a perfect example of that.

One of our main stops on Hong Kong Island was Victoria Peak, and we timed this one just right. 🇭🇰

We headed up early enough to see the incredible daytime views over the city and Victoria Harbour, then decided to hang around until after sunset so we could see Hong Kong from above in a completely different light.

And since we had some time to kill between daylight and evening… pizza and b**r it was. 🍕🍺😂 Not exactly a hardship!

The sunset ended up being beautiful, and watching the city start to light up from up there made the wait completely worth it.

Definitely one of the highlights of our very short 36 hours in Hong Kong. ❤️

We’re a little late sharing our Hong Kong adventures… and there’s a reason. 😂🇭🇰

As we headed toward Hong Kong, Starlink wasn’t available at all while we were in China waters, and while passing through the Qiongzhou Strait, we weren’t allowed to take photos from the ship either. So for a bit, we were pretty disconnected.

Then we arrived in Hong Kong for the very first time and only had about 36 hours there. We were way too busy exploring to stop and post everything as it happened. 😂

Hong Kong was country #58 for us aboard the Odyssey, and we packed a lot into that short visit.

So now that we’re connected again… get ready for a Hong Kong photo dump. 📸 We have some catching up to do!
