Today…We Ride! (and take a break with a show)
Whether you’re after a thrill or a relaxing, family friendly ride, Disney has you covered. Each of the Disney Parks has a variety of rides for every age and thrill level. Each Disney park also offers stage shows, parades, fireworks and character experiences! (Plenty of rides/shows are indoors in A/C!) Personal Experience- my son was able to ride more at 18 months old in Disney than he was 7 months later at just over 2 in Kennywood. Is Disney’s immersive storytelling worth the extra cost? Or do our local parks give you the better value for a one-day adventure? 🤔

Day 2 of my “but Disney is soo expensive” series.
Yesterday we got our tickets and parking, today- Let’s Eat!!

This is where I think Disney wins hands down. If you’re hungry at Disney, you’re doing something wrong. The options are endless- meal sized snacks, quick lunches or sit down dinners, it’s more than just theme park food! And the portion sizes- you’re getting some bang for your buck. Disney is also super accommodating if you have any food allergies!

On our recent Idlewild trip, our best bet was an 8 cut pizza for $32. Both Idlewild and Kennywood have your basic theme park foods and snacks. Hersheypark has some options, including a sit down restaurant, and plenty of chocolate themed snacks!

Now, refillable, souvenir cups, Disney could learn a little here. Disney doesn’t allow the cups to be refilled in the parks (you could pour your drink into it, but can’t fill it at a machine), they’re only good for the resorts. The other parks, you can refill at multiple drink stations all over the parks.

Disney is definitely not a cheap trip, but have you been to the local amusement parks this summer? They’re not cheap either!

Today, I have a comparison of admission to Disney, Kennywood, Idlewild and Hersheypark (not local but not that far). Yes, regular admission to Disney may be almost double the admission to the others, but keep in mind- Magic Kingdom alone is twice the size of Manhattan!

You get rides, shows, plenty of shopping and dining options, character meets (and plenty of restrooms!)
We’ve been to the parks many times, and have yet to do everything!

Kennywood is a decent size park, Idlewild has rides and SoakZone for water fun, and Hersheypark has 3 areas- Hershey, ZooAmerica and the Boardwalk for water fun.

Did you know a new Disney Store Limited Time opened yesterday in Ross Park Mall?! The first of its kind, and it opened in Pittsburgh! How cool is that?!

We tried to get our Disney fix, but they have a virtual line and it’s sold out through tomorrow 😞 We were able to check out the Lego store though & scored the Beauty and the Beast Castle (I’ve never seen it before ❤️)
