Sometimes you don’t have to travel far to feel like you’ve gotten away. ❤️
Yesterday, we had a little Sonoma County adventure of our own.
For the first time ever, we rode the SMART Train!
I honestly can’t believe this was my first time, considering how long it’s been around. You’d think being born and raised in Sonoma County, I would have checked that one off the list by now! 😂
We hopped on in Petaluma and headed to Windsor, where we spent the day at the park, had lunch, wandered into a candy store, and then hopped back on the train for the ride home.
Nothing extravagant. No big itinerary. Just a simple day enjoying Sonoma County with my husband and my son.
And it reminded me just how lucky I am to call this place home.
Being born and raised here, I sometimes think we can forget to appreciate what’s right in our own backyard. We have beautiful towns, incredible food, parks, wineries, outdoor adventures, and so many little experiences that make Sonoma County special.
As someone who spends so much of my time helping people plan trips and discover destinations around the world, I also love being able to showcase the place I call home.
So if you live in Sonoma County, maybe this is your reminder to play tourist in your own backyard.
Take the train. Visit a town you haven’t explored. Try a new restaurant. Find a new park. Make a day of it.
And if you’re reading this from outside California, maybe Sonoma County deserves a spot on your travel list. 😉
I may be a little biased, but after a day like yesterday, I’m reminded once again how grateful I am to have been born and raised in such a beautiful place.
