Visit Menard County

10/08/2026

One of our FAVORITE features on the new site is the ability for YOU to add community events to the events page!!
🎉🎉
This allows us to create a community calendar with all the important dates- events, fundraisers, kids activities, etc! All you have to do is go to this page: https://menardcounty.org/events/submit-an-event/
✨
And submit your event! We will peek at it and make sure it’s for the community at large and get it posted! We are hoping this becomes the Menard-County-Go-To for making all the plans! Email us at [email protected] with any questions!

Did you know that just last year, Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site expanded it's annual Candlelight Walk event from just 3 nights to 3 FULL weekends of historic fall fun?? We absolutely LOVE this event and it's coming up from 5PM to 7:30PM on the first three weekends in October (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays)!!!
🕯️🍂🕯️🍂
This event is FREE (and includes free hot chocolate as well!) with no reservations or tickets required, and truly is such a special walk through history, experiencing this beautiful place a little more like those who lived there might have. See you there (and check out New Salem's page for a ton of great info)!!
