Last weekend, we did our first run through of the Drag Me Philly Tour. ✨ This tour weaves archival information from The William Way LGBT Archives with interviews with local drag artists from The Drag Arts Oral History Project () and places these stories around the Gayborhood to celebrate the drag arts in Philadelphia. This feels especially important in this moment in America (to say the least). Stay tuned for more updates.

👀 In 2023, Beyond the Bell Tours began developing the Drag Me Philly! tour to highlight excerpts of oral history interviews from Drag Arts Oral History Project with archival information from the William Way LGBTQ Community Center on a tour of the Gayborhood. ✨

These archival visits in 2023 were made possible by The Lepage Center at Villanova University. Check out some highlights from the visits. 😍

Over the past two years, Beyond the Bell Tours has been collaborating with the Drag Arts Oral History Project to create a digital archive of interviews of Philadelphia drag artists.

In the last year, we’ve been working to highlight parts of these interviews, interweave them with archival information from the William Way Center and place these stories throughout the Gayborhood to highlight and celebrate the drag arts on a tour called: DRAG ME PHILLY!

Wilfredo Hernandez has been our collaborator in this project over the last year and can be spotted around the Gayborhood workshopping the tour.

This project was made possible by the Lepage Center at Villanova University. Additional support came from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and the Committee on Le***an, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender History.
