I promise fall is coming here, but need a place to cool off in the meantime? 🌞 Head to Fossil Creek, just a two-hour drive from the city. Be ready for a long, bumpy dirt road leading you to this stunning oasis. Once there, it’s a 1.2-mile hike to the main waterfall — easy enough for families and totally worth the effort! 🌿 We swam behind the waterfall, saw fish with goggles, and picnicked under the trees. There are no permits required right now, but go early since it can get crowded and the parking lots fill up fast. I went last year with my family, and another time with my mom and a friend. There sure is no shortage of stunning nature across our state.

Phoenix street art at its finest 🎨✨ Now that the mornings have finally cooled off, I’ve been taking more walks around the neighborhood. I just love all the unique homes and murals we have here (no HOA ftw! 🙌) Check out this stunning tribute to David Bowie by local artist Maggie Keane, right here in the Coronado historic district. This mural series captures Bowie in all his iconic eras, and with the post-rain reflection, it’s looking extra magical. 🌧️ Thanks to for snapping this gem! Phoenix has such a vibrant street art scene, and this is just one of the many murals that make our neighborhood so special.

Slow and steady 🌿 This creeping fig has been working hard to climb our walls despite the Phoenix heat, and I can already picture it fully covering the entrance by next summer. We’re all about bringing a little oasis to the desert—creating a lush, inviting space right in the middle of the city. Creeping figs are perfect for vertical greenery and thrive once established, though they need some extra love during the hottest months. Who else is growing these beauties?

We’re celebrating!🥳 Today we received our 150th 5-star review!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ I’m so nervous now to break the streak, but also incredibly grateful that so many people have felt the peace and joy we’ve prayed for in this space. They’ve felt both inspired and right at home, which is all I could ask for. Scroll through for some of our most recent reviews. 🥰

Summer might be winding down, (well, not quite here) but our private casita is ready for your next getaway! ☀️ We’ve got a private pool and we’re one of the only one-bedroom spots in Central Phoenix with that little luxury. Locals love us for staycations, anniversaries, and birthdays. Oh, and did we mention? We can turn the pool into a hot tub when the weather cools off. 😎 Ready to book your stay? Link in bio.

to when I fell in love with a slab of porcelain while searching for the perfect countertop for our casita . Originally, my heart was set on soapstone, but its high cost and low durability quickly dashed those dreams. Then, I stumbled upon this stunning porcelain slab. The color and pattern were exactly what I envisioned. Unfortunately, the installation costs were a bit too steep for our budget. After much deliberation, we decided on granite with a leathered finish. It offered the matte look I loved, the durability I needed, and a much more affordable price. Plus, I was able to order a half-slab, which was perfect for our smaller space. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!

Who knows, maybe someday I’ll revisit this gorgeous porcelain slab for another project. 💎

Cheers to Gilbert on his birthday yesterday!! We’ve been hosting lots of local couples lately looking for a quiet and romantic spot to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, which I think is just so cool!

He gets home from a work trip tonight, so I have the casita blocked off so we can enjoy the patio ourselves and present him with a special gift. 🎁 🤫

While I may be the more front facing partner of this operation, Gilbert is the one behind the scenes making it all happen. Throughout construction, he was coordinating with the contractors, dealing with tax stuff, making sure all the numbers would work, and keeping everyone on schedule. Today, he’s the one changing the air filters, obsessing over the creeping fig’s growth and leaning trees, and always scouting and planning for our next investment. Babe, I’m so glad you’re my partner in life and in business! I love you!

We poured our hearts into creating a truly special space in our central Phoenix casita and this little corner above the sink is a perfect example. This vintage clock/barometer is a cherished item from my grandfather, and the prickly pear cactus just keeps on thriving. (Swipe to see its growth!) The showstopper, though, is definitely the stunning backsplash tile from AlysEdwards. I actually snagged these beauties second-hand, which is a win-win in my book! Who says you can’t create a designer look on a budget?

If you’re staying with us or in the neighborhood, Ollie Vaughn’s is a must! Just a short walk away, they offer fresh sandwiches, hearty breakfast burritos, and baked goods you won’t want to miss. Their cozy patio is perfect for when the weather cools down (soon, we hope!), but until then, the delicious menu keeps us coming back. 🍳🥪 All photo creds to
