Walt Disney World Resort Showdown!

⚓ Disney's Yacht Club Resort vs. Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort 🌲

Both of these deluxe resorts offer some of the best rooms and amenities at Walt Disney World, but they have lots of differences too, which might help you decide on the right resort for your trip.

Theming:
⭐ Yacht Club has a sophisticated New England nautical theme, whereas Wilderness Lodge takes its inspiration from the grand National Park lodges of the American Northwest.

Location:
⭐ Yacht Club is walking distance from Epcot and Hollywood Studios, whereas Wilderness Lodge is a boat ride away from Magic Kingdom.

Dining Options:
⭐ Both resorts have some fantastic dining options, but they are very different from each other.
⭐ Yacht Club has the famous Yachtsman Steakhouse, and the underrated Ale and Compass restaurant, as well as two lounges.
⭐ Wilderness Lodge has the Storybook character dining experience with Snow White, and the family-style Whispering Canyon Cafe, as well as two lounges, including the scenic Geyser Point situated on the edge of Bay Lake.

Pools:
⭐ Yacht Club has the incredible Stormalong Bay that it shares with Beach Club, with a huge slide and a lazy river. Though the Wilderness Lodge pool is not as large, it has fantastic theming and a great splash pad that is a hit with little ones.

These are just some of the comparisons between these two resorts, and hopefully, they show how different the experiences can be when staying at Walt Disney World.
I have personally stayed in both and think they are both fantastic choices, depending on the type of vacation and the group traveling.

2027 Walt Disney World packages are live!

The wait is officially over! Bookings are now open through October 31, 2027.

I'm so grateful when I get to work with clients as lovely as the D. family.

Helping them navigate their very first visit as a family of 4 was a genuine highlight of my year so far. They came to me looking for some direction for their two little girls, and seeing their "must-see" princess list turn into a reality was so rewarding (though the Sulley meet and greet was probably my favorite to see!)

Handling a Disney vacation is about more than a ride and character checklist; it’s about understanding a family's energy and what they want from their trip. Whether it was creating a Lightning Lane strategy to maximize their park time or finding the right balance between parks and relaxing resort days, my goal was to create a truly magical experience. What is one of the biggest mistakes people make when planning a trip to Walt Disney World?

Forgetting to plan a rest day!

With so much to do, it can be easy to get swept away with the planning and want to include lots of rides and activities for every day of the trip, whilst forgetting to include a rest day somewhere in the plan.

No matter who I am working with, I recommend at least one rest day so there is a chance to sleep in, go to the pool, and most importantly, recharge your batteries so you can keep going for the rest of the trip.

A rest day is a great opportunity to relax by the resort pool, take advantage of the food options and activities your resort offers, or explore Disney Springs, which has a wide range of shops and restaurants.

Make sure you don't leave out this essential element of your Disney vacation.

Have you seen Pandora – The World of Avatar at night? ⭐🌳🌙

This land in Disney's Animal Kingdom truly comes alive when the sun goes down, and I feel like so many people miss this amazing experience because they don't stay in the park late, or don't even go at all!

This can only be experienced at certain times of year, as this park often closes a little earlier than the others. However, if you are lucky enough to have your vacation planned when it will be possible to experience Pandora at night (as a travel advisor, I can help you figure this out!), then it is 1000% worth it.

If you’re looking for the ultimate treat for a Disney adults trip, you have to add GEO 82 to your EPCOT itinerary. I recently took my sister there to celebrate her birthday, and it was one of the highlights of our trip!

Here’s why it’s a total must-do:
- The Vibe: The lounge features a stunning geodesic design inspired by Spaceship Earth. Everything from the floor tiles to the walls and light fixtures, even the glasses and coasters, has a geodesic theme.
- The View: There is nothing quite like seeing the park from this vantage point—especially at night. Watching EPCOT glow while you’re tucked away in the lounge is pure magic. ✨
- The Menu: They have a very unique and creative cocktail list. We paired our drinks with the charcuterie board, which is now my top lounge snack anywhere on property.🧀🥂

Since it’s an adults-only spot, it’s the perfect escape for a birthday celebration, a date night, or a trip with friends.

✨ My new favorite Walt Disney World perk? Stay at a deluxe resort and get access to Extended Evening Hours! 🌙✨

On select nights, certain parks are open to deluxe resort guests only for an extra 2 hours in the evening. With so many top attractions to enjoy, this is one of the best ways to get those rides in without needing to purchase lightning lane multi pass.

This is something only available to dexluxe resort guests, and if you add up lightning lane prices for a multi day trip, it might be worth looking at a deluxe resort stay!

This hidden gem of a resort is so good I want to keep it a secret! 💜✨💚✨

Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter has recently regained one of the spots on my list of favorite places to stay at Walt Disney World.

It has a calm atmosphere that I really appreciate, particularly when the parks are busy, and I think it’s one of the best resorts for a quiet, romantic couples trip 💖

With everything this resort has to offer, for me it beats out some of the deluxe level properties.
It has beautifully renovated rooms, riverside views, boats to Disney Springs, one of the best pools you can find on Disney property, and of course... beignets!
I’m so glad I decided to stay here again, and it definitely won’t be the last time.

Christmas in the Smokies 🏔️🎄❄️🎶

One of my fondest holiday memories in recent years is spending a few days at Dollywood during the festive season 💕

We chose to stay at HeartSong Lodge & Resort, which was the perfect cozy retreat after a day at the park. The rides were great (shout out Thunderhead!) and everyone we met was so kind and friendly. I definitely recommend adding this to your list of holiday vacation destinations.
