➡️ Rock 101 (Beginner Climbing): Learn the basics of outdoor climbing, including belaying, movement techniques, and essential safety skills in a supportive environment.
➡️ Rock 201 (Anchor Building and Cleaning): Develop the skills to build and evaluate climbing anchors of all kinds, clean routes, and efficiently transition from climbing to descending.
➡️ Rock 301 (Lead Climbing): Master lead climbing techniques, with an emphasis on gear placement, route finding, and lead belaying for sport or traditional climbing.
➡️ Rock 401 (Rescue): Gain advanced self-rescue skills, including escaping the belay, assisting a stuck climber, and problem-solving in technical scenarios.

Pisgah climbing school continues to lead the way in climbing education!

This week, and went down to Atlanta to train with to level up their rope craft. After today, Kevin is certified Level 1, Anna Marie is certified Level 2, and Karsten became one of the very few Mountain Guides who is also SPRAT Level 3.

This training will make us all stronger as a team, be more adaptable to any environment, and even sharper in our rope skills and critical thinking abilities. Way to go team!

We’ve gotten a lot of questions about how you can show support to our guides through this time. It’s no secret this is a blow to WNC businesses - October is one of our busiest months of the year and helps sustain our guides through the winter. We’ve already had to cancel two weeks of bookings, and while we are hoping to start the process of re-opening soon, it’s going to be a slow start. Here’s a couple ways you can support us!

1. Donate to our Guides Wages fund. A donation of $50 or higher gets you a T-shirt! We’ll reach out for shipping info. There’s nothing much cooler than sporting the PCS logo everywhere you go. The Venmo information is on the second slide.
2. Get a booking on the calendar! We can still take you out climbing in SC, AL, TN, KY, and select open crags in NC. That’s a whole lot of crags still available to explore. We’re got availability from now until the end of the year and would love to take you out climbing.

Thanks for the support, y’all. We can’t wait to get back on the wall soon.

Pisgah Climbing School will be closed through Thursday October 3rd due to the devastating flooding in Western NC.

We will reassess in a few days but right now we need to focus on the damage we have sustained as well as helping our community.

Thank you all for your understanding and we look forward to getting back into the mountains!

North Carolina has a long, rich history of traditional climbing - no better time to explore it than while the leaves are changing this fall 🍁🍂. This falls course will be held in Brevard, NC primarily at the iconic Looking Glass Rock.

This women’s retreat was such a special experience! The relationships and sisterhood that were formed were beautiful. The laughter both in the house and on the rock was contagious. In addition to building skills and gaining confidence, we just had a ton of fun!
