REMINDER: We know how exciting it is to see pics of progress along the Ecusta Trail, but the trail is not yet open to the public. In fact, it's a very active construction zone right now! Our construction firm is reporting slowdowns due to having to dodge pedestrians, runners and cyclists, as well as some people still scavenging rail materials that don't belong to them.

We know it's tempting to start using something that has been in the works for so long, but we want to keep everyone safe and this project free from delays or obstruction. You all will be the FIRST to know when the county gives us the go-ahead for the public to use the trail.

Consider volunteering with our group or making a small donation if you want to show your support for the Ecusta Trail today. Thank you for your understanding.

Transylvania County, North Carolina is home to the Pisgah National Forest and Dupont State Recreational Forest, each offering their own flavor of epic mountain bike trail riding.

This is great news and we can't wait to enjoy these trails. We are big fans of giving cyclists more options to avoid riding on the road to get to the parks and surrounding areas.

We are pleased to announce that after more than twelve years of planning and a recent partnership between the Friends of the Ecusta Trail and Conserving Carolina, the transaction to railbank the 19 mile rail corridor and transfer ownership to an LLC owned by Conserving Carolina has concluded. It is now official! Track will soon be removed and construction will soon start! The Ecusta Trail will be a strong economic driver for our Counties.

To help celebrate this transitional event, you and your friends and family are invited to a press conference today, Monday, August 16, 2021 at 4 PM at the railroad track crossing at the South end of Church Street in Hendersonville (near the north end of the “Fresh Market” parking lot). Children are welcome to attend. Let’s spread the word and create a swell of support and appreciation for this momentous occasion!
