Hey PiXburgh City Clown'cil...

Just in case you follow this page.

Tiny Homes aren't the solution.

Shack Villages: An expensive and ongoing failure

If shack villages – I refuse to call them "tiny homes" because there's nothing homey about them – could show some hard evidence of getting large numbers of people off the streets permanently, I'd support them. But I have seen no such evidence, apart from the occasional anecdote about some lucky individual who made good use of the break from the streets to get sober, get an indoor place, and move on with their lives. By contrast, I have known of several individuals who died of a drug overdose or exposure while in a shack and several others who eventually drifted back to the street. Several recovered drug addicts have come on the page to tell us that if the shack villages and revolving-door judges had been around when THEY were using, they'd surely be dead now.

So why do politicians like Seattle mayor Katie Wilson make such a fuss over the shacks? I could make a case that it's a corrupt conspiracy to enrich the shack operators at the expense of taxpayers, but I don't actually believe that in Wilson's case. Wilson and other naive leftists like her seem to genuinely believe the shacks are doing som**hing good. After all, they're getting people out of the elements and into some kind of community where it will be easier for social workers to reach out to them, aren't they?

Well yeah... yeah they are. And that would be great if the shack dwellers want to be reached out TO. Problem is, most of them don't. They don't WANT to be hassled about getting addiction treatment or mental health care or job training... or any number of other things that are theoretically available to them through the shacks. And that is why they were on the streets in the first place, because they didn't want to take responsibility for themselves.

The shack operators aren't about to FORCE them to get help, either, so in the end, the only difference between an addict living in a shack and one living on the street is that with the shack they can rot away and die in relative comfort and quiet, fully hidden from view. And ironically, while this is happening, the Katie Wilsons of the world – talking to you in particular here – Mayor Katie B. Wilson) can hold press conferences, point to the shacks, and go, "Look. We're DOING som**hing about homelessness."

Yeah, they're doing som**hing about it, I guess. They're just not doing the RIGHT thing.

Shack villages don't work. A path to real housing through accountability does.

P.S. I'm not going to tolerate any "But they have to WANT to get clean" nonsense on this post or on this page. If someone thinks that's a helpful or relevant thing to say, they don't belong here.

There's so much racism, they had to manufacture it! 🙄

Racism is BIG business!

The not-for-profit-yet-still-quite-profitable Southern Poverty Law Center has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of fraud and money laundering. SPLC admits to placing paid informants inside hate groups and paying them a LOT of money but denies that this was wrong in any way. (Story link in comments.)

I remember some years back when corrupt local Democrat orgs were trying to get Safe Seattle designated a "hate group" by SPLC. My response: Go for it, commies. We could use a multi-million-dollar defamation payout. Our admins could have retired to the Bahamas and Chum would be swimming in sardines now.

But of course their "hate group" label wet dream never came true. [Sigh]

Department of Homeland Security. Immigration And Customs Enforcement (ICE), Pittsburgh's Tony Moreno, The City of Pittsburgh Republican Committee, Republican Committee of Allegheny County, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police

Tomorrow on 100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA with Marty Griffin - GET MARTY we talk about an Indian woman who's been scamming businesses and high-end hotels in the PiXburgh area. Her immigration status is unknown at this point (more on that later...)

Here's a little background on her:

https://hoodline.com/2024/12/new-york-woman-arrested-for-series-of-fraudulent-schemes-in-san-bernardino-mountain-communities/

I spoke to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department who arrested her and said she's a real piece of work when I told her she's now operating in the PiXburgh area.

I have pictures and video of her at several downtown hotels trying to book rooms with bad credit cards.

Today I called around to some hotels, she was at one Friday at 3:16 am trying to book a room under fraudulent pretenses.

She also tried to scam another. And booked spa services & skipped out.

She tried get a blow-out at a salon a week & a half ago in PiXburgh without paying.

This is her M.O. and she does it everywhere she goes!

Here's the kicker sh*ttizens...I tracked her down to another hotel, that when I called and gave a description, she was IN. THE. FREAKING. LOBBY!!!

I immediately ran over to ID her and called 9-1-1.

I was told there were no officers to dispatch at this time.

My response was that's fine, but I'm not letting her out of my sight until the police show up.

9-1-1 dispatcher said he recommends that I NOT do that, to which I basically responded, I.D.G.A.F. I'll arrest her myself if I have to, he got pi**ed and hung up.

I called back and got a female who was much more pleasant and she stayed on the phone with me as I relayed directions as I followed her.

She attempted to get others to intervene and stop the scary bad man (me) from following her. She asked people to call 9-1-1. To which I laughed and said, they're on the phone right now, what do you want to tell them?!

We ended up in another hotel, which she was trying to get a room in again, fraudulently.

Pittsburgh police finally showed up and wouldn't arrest her...No victim, no crime...No one filed a police report but me! I called immigration and put them on the phone with PiXburgh PD. Officers on scene stated they're not allowed to cooperate with ICE on immigration matters and could get fired for doing so per Mayor Ed Grimey.

Long story short, another career serial offender gone all because of a lack of cooperation between the feds & local PD.

This was a potential violation of the Laken Riley Act:

The Laken Riley Act is a United States federal statute that requires the detention, without bond, of non-citizens who are arrested for, charged with, or admit to committing certain crimes, including theft, burglary, larceny, shoplifting, assault on a law enforcement officer, or any crime resulting in death or serious bodily injury, such as drunk driving. The Act also allows states to sue the Department of Homeland Security for alleged failures in immigration enforcement.

Some take-aways:

She failed to produce a government issued ID and identify herself to law-enforcement.

PiXburgh PD never identified her!

PiXburgh PD didn't charge her with anything, which is BS, because in PA, you CAN be arrested and charged for attempted fraud because it is a crime! " Attempting to commit fraud, which involves taking a "substantial step" toward committing the crime with the intent to defraud, is a crime under Pennsylvania law."

PiXburgh PD is NOT allowed to reach out to the federal agencies to help identify. (Which we could have done had they been willing to cooperate!)

PiXburgh PD actively prevented federal law-enforcement from identifying the woman.

Anyone remember how 9/11 happened? Law -enforcement agencies not sharing information with each other!

Total FREAKIN garbage!!!

Know this Sh*ttizens...She will continue to scam local businesses until she's burned all of her resources here, then she'll move onto the next place...Wash, rinse, repeat!

Housing first is NOT the solution to the drug crisis! 🙅🙄

"Setting them up to die." ~ Another "Housing First" Tragedy.

KRISTEN: My mom ended up in one of DESC's free apartments* after getting out of the DESC shelter. She had been hooked on he**in and crack for years and was also on m**hadone, over 15 years on it. Most of the people around her were doing the same thing. The drug dealers practically lived at the clinics. She would even pick up her weekend "carry" on Saturday and sell it.

When she moved into the free housing, she told me straight up, “Kristen, there are more drugs in here than out on the streets. Nobody could ever get clean living in this place, even if they wanted to.” And she wasn’t lying. Just a couple weeks later I got that awful call—the hospital telling me my mom had overdosed and was on life support. She had collapsed right inside the hallway by the front door of her building. In her system they found he**in, coke, m**hadone, and benzos.

A week later, I had to make the hardest decision of my life—taking her off life support. Her case manager, who worked with multiple of these housing complexes, told me this happens all the time. He said he’s seen more people overdose and die in those apartments than he ever saw out on the streets. That’s when it really hit me. This system isn’t helping addicts—it’s enabling them until it kills them. These “free housing” setups aren’t saving lives, they’re destroying them. If the government really cared, they’d fight for real mental health and treatment centers. Detox should be 30 days, not 5—because fentanyl alone can stay in your system for up to 30. Treatment should be at least 90 days inpatient. After that, people need real support: housing, jobs, and a path to actually build a life. Otherwise, it’s just setting them up to die.

Kristen added this comment: I myself am a recovering m**h addict. I have almost 8 years clean. My mom died February 14th 2020. I had to leave her behind so I could get my life back. I have seen it and been through it all,. so I personally know that what Washington is doing is not helping. If I would have stayed in Washington, allowing people to enable my addiction, I, too, would probably be dead right now. It’s ridiculous how people don’t want to see the reality of what happens when you use drugs. I thank god every damn day I made the choice to walk away from that life, but I am a lot stronger than many addicts. I actually made som**hing of myself instead of staying in that "poor me" mindset.

NOTES

The photo is of Kristen's family "before my mom and dad got into drugs." Her father, on the right, died in 2016. She sent us some "after drugs" photos of her mom, but we've chosen not to post those.

*DESC stands for Downtown Emergency Service Center. It's a mammoth housing non-profit that gets millions of dollars in taxpayer money to warehouse drug addicts and people with severe mental disorders. DESC calls its apartments "supportive housing," but it's unclear what actual support they provide to residents, since residents are allowed to use drugs right on the premises and are free to turn down rehab and mental health treatment. According to our sources, at one of DESC's buildings, there is a drug dealer on staff. Other buildings allow known drug dealers to enter the premises and peddle their wares, like so many Fuller brush salesmen.
