Time seemed to stand still in this old Sicilian palazzo that is still in the hands of the family who has occupied it for generations. From frolicking kittens, to a collection of fans, and an incredible chandelier with intricate crystal garlands and seashells made of glass. A short friday evening visit turned quickly into hours of conversation with the family, as various members seemed to come and go. As the clock struck midnight we had to excuse ourselves as the jovial family conversations between multiple generations continued on. Our midnight exit was followed by an invitation for gelato at a local gelateria. This is everyday life in Modica. Life is about living. La Dolce Vira 🇮🇹

Making a site visit today to the very charming and completely Sicilian located in the stunning countryside outside of Modica. After a six month renovation of this old sleeping beauty I am happy to start sharing photos of my new home in Sicily. Here is my rustic Sicilian dining room in the Baroque city Modica , which is in the famed Val di Noto ❤️ I am absolutely loving life in the Italian Mediterranean. I started from the drawing board here going to local flea markets and antique dealers with friends, and have found the most incredible things. A sicilian giltwood mirror, painted console table and dining table consisting of a pair of demilunes, glass bottles found in my basement, the required pair of Teste di Moro, that no Sicilian home can be without. A gifted plaster cherub from a local church given to me by dear friends and the original rosary beads found in a drawer in the house. The chandelier also came from a local church. I wanted my house to reflect the traditional Sicilian lifestyle and pay tribute to the beauty of simplicity that still works today. ❤️
