🌿 We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend!

We’re still closed today, but we’re looking forward to getting everyone back on the water beginning Monday.

Reservations are now open for the upcoming week, and conditions should be much quieter after the holiday rush.

📍 A reminder that Charlotte County’s boating traffic survey continues through July 12. Every paddler helps demonstrate how important Don Pedro Island State Park is for outdoor recreation, eco-tourism, and public access to our waterways.

Whether you’re joining us for a kayak rental, paddleboard adventure, or guided eco tour, we’d love to see you on the water this week.

Book your next adventure and come experience one of Florida’s most beautiful coastal parks.

🌊 We’ll see you Monday!

🇺🇸 Happy Fourth of July! ❤️🤍💙

Today we’re taking a break from the water and will be closed due to the extremely heavy holiday boating traffic.

Instead, come celebrate with us at Fishermen’s Village in Punta Gorda from 12 PM–8 PM!

Stop by our booth to:
🛶 Meet the SUP Englewood team
🧢 Check out our new hats
🎟️ Grab our newest stickers
🌴 See our favorite Chill Cheeks apparel
🦩 Talk paddling, wildlife, and Don Pedro Island State Park

If you’re heading out on the water today, please use extra caution.

Charlotte County has resumed its boating traffic survey through July 12, and this holiday weekend is expected to be one of the busiest of the year. The previous survey recorded approximately 80 boats per hour traveling this section of the Intracoastal Waterway.

Please:
✔️ Wear your life jacket
✔️ Stay visible
✔️ Cross channels carefully
✔️ Keep your distance from larger vessels
✔️ Enjoy Florida responsibly

If you’re celebrating with fireworks tonight, remember that a burn ban remains in effect. Enjoy the professional displays safely, whether you’re watching from Blind Pass and Manasota Key or from Punta Gorda’s waterfront.

Have a safe, happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

⚡ Weather Update: Due to lightning and storm activity, we are closed for the remainder of today.

If you’re looking for something fun to do this afternoon, head over to the Bocilla Islands Conservancy for their community scavenger hunt and raffle! 🎟️ The scavenger hunt kicks off in about 90 minutes, so there’s still time to join in the fun.

The Conservancy is currently raising funds to purchase a permanent Conservancy Center, a space that will allow them to expand educational programs, conservation initiatives, citizen science projects, and community events for years to come.

Be sure to grab some raffle tickets and support an organization that’s making a real difference for our coastal ecosystems.

We are proud to support their mission and hope you’ll stop by to learn more about everything they’re doing for our islands.

💚 Conservation starts with community.

We’re more than halfway there!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we have now raised more than $85,000, bringing us to 58% of our $150,000 capital campaign goal.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has helped move this vision forward. Every gift brings us closer to creating a permanent home for conservation, education, and community on our islands.

With just 63 days remaining, now is the time to help us keep the momentum going. A one-time donation helps us reach our immediate capital goal, while a monthly pledge provides dependable support as we build for the future. Both are deeply appreciated, and both make a meaningful difference.

Explore the vision:

Make a one-time donation:
https://bocillaislandsconservancy.org/center-donate/

Become a monthly donor:
https://bocillaislandsconservancy.org/center-pledge/

Thank you for believing in what the Conservancy can become. Together, we can expand our programs, strengthen partnerships, open doors to larger grants and new funding sources, and protect more of the islands we love.

🛶 Don Pedro Paddle Out this Weekend 🛶

Join us this weekend as we celebrate one of Florida's most incredible paddling destinations and help support safe waterways for paddlers, boaters, and wildlife.

Bring your own kayak or paddle board and join a community paddle at Don Pedro Island State Park.

The County has begun evaluating paddlecraft activity at Don Pedro Island State Park. If you've ever paddled here, this weekend is a great opportunity to get on the water, enjoy the park, and make your voice heard.

📅 Friday, Saturday & Sunday – Community Paddle
🕘 9:00 AM Safety Briefing

During each safety briefing, we'll discuss:
✅ Safe paddling practices
✅ Sharing the waterway with boat traffic
✅ Wildlife protection
✅ Current efforts to support a Slow Speed / Minimum Wake zone near the park launch

After the paddle, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the issue and send a message directly to Charlotte County Commissioners.

Whether you're a seasoned paddler or simply someone who loves Don Pedro Island State Park, we'd love to see you on the water.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Weekend 🇺🇸

If you’re heading out on the water this weekend, please paddle smart and stay aware of changing conditions. Holiday weekends bring significantly heavier boating traffic to our waterways, especially around passes, channels, and popular sandbars.

For the safety of our staff and guests, SUP Englewood will be CLOSED Saturday & Sunday due to expected holiday boating traffic. We plan to reopen Monday when conditions and traffic are expected to calm down.

A few important reminders before you launch:
🛶 Check the weather and wind before heading out
⚡ Turn on lightning alerts and monitor radar throughout the day
🚤 Stay visible and avoid boating channels whenever possible
🦺 Always wear your life vest and share your float plan
🌊 Be realistic about your paddling ability and changing conditions

We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend on the water. Thank you for understanding our decision to prioritize safety during one of the busiest boating weekends of the year.

We look forward to getting everyone back on the water Monday! ☀️🛶

A huge thank you to Bocilla Islands Conservancy Inc. for attending our Coffee & Conservation events and for continuing to bring meaningful conservation conversations back to their Palm Island community.

This is exactly what Coffee & Conservation was designed to do, connect neighbors, nonprofits, educators, and conservation advocates together so knowledge can ripple outward through our coastal communities.

While our original speaker, Kate Rose from Florida Sea Grant, unfortunately became ill and was unable to attend, we’re incredibly grateful to Kerry Kaiser from the Skyway Team Bird Rescue for stepping in and delivering such an eye-opening presentation on pelican rescue, rehabilitation, and wildlife protection. The conversation highlighted just how much small human actions can impact local bird populations and why education matters so deeply.

We’re also excited to see Bocilla Islands Conservancy continuing these important conversations within their own community, including their upcoming event featuring Ashley Cook with CHEC (Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center).

Working together, sharing resources, and educating our communities is how we create lasting stewardship for Southwest Florida’s waterways, wildlife, and natural spaces 🌎🦩🐬

Be sure to follow and support Bocilla Islands Conservancy Inc. and the incredible work they’re doing for their island community!

🌊 Quick Update from Don Pedro Island State Park

You may notice a new sign at the kayak launch. 👇

🚤 This area is now a 25 mph zone right off the dock, with the slow speed zone starting further south near markers #3 & #4.

For paddlers, that means a small route adjustment:

✅ Paddle south toward markers 3 & 4 before crossing
✅ Stay aware of boat traffic in this zone

At SUP Englewood, safety is always our priority. 🛶 We are actively advocating for this zone to be changed back to better support paddler safety and will keep everyone updated.

In the meantime, this signage will remain in place to help guide safe crossings.

Have questions before you head out? We’re here to help.
